Naples, Fla., Customers Gain Year-Round Access to Delta's Largest Hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
Tuesday August 17, 1:00 pm ET
NAPLES, Fla., Aug. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Delta (NYSE: DAL - News) customers traveling to and from Naples, Fla., will gain the comfort and convenience of daily, nonstop regional jet service between sunny Southwest Florida and Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport beginning Nov. 15, 2004. Delta Connection carrier Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) will operate three daily year-round flights using customer-preferred Bombardier regional jets.
With the new service, Naples customers will enjoy the community's only year-round nonstop air service outside the state of Florida on one of the world's quietest aircraft. The Bombardier CRJ has revolutionized air travel through its broad passenger appeal, convenience and comfort. The plane carries passengers in a comfortable two-by-two seating arrangement, with no middle seats.
"Naples customers no longer have to wait for the 'in season' for air travel," said Fred Buttrell, president and chief executive officer, Delta Connection, Inc. "The convenient flight schedule offers year-round air service aboard state-of-the-art regional jets -- many of which have all-leather interiors."
The new service to Atlanta connects passengers to the world in just one stop with access to more than 940 flights to 182 destinations aboard Delta, Delta Connection, Song and SkyTeam partners.
"The announcement of Delta regional jet service to Atlanta is the completion of a very long and challenging effort on the part of the Naples Airport Authority to restore commercial air service to our community," said Commissioner Peter L. Manion, Naples Airport Authority Air Service liaison. "The service offered by Delta through its ASA subsidiary is superior to any prior service at the Naples Municipal Airport. Our success would not have been possible without the significant support of the businesses, organizations and individuals who helped support our efforts to bring year-round air service back to Naples. Today's announcement is gratifying in view of the effort it took to achieve it and we thank our community for working to make it happen."

I think this is a GREAT way to use RJs. Go to places that are new and can CREATE business opportunities, and fly to places where very rich people live. Those people will pay more to fly closer to their huge Winter vacation homes. (the ones that weren't smashed by Hurricane Charley)
Bravo DCI---Bravo. Also, the super short runway is close in size to Key West's (as I recall)---so probably no LCC mainline aircraft competition....(unless they want to try it......which is doubtful)
