Before you say it, I know there have already been posts on lateral moves but in light of the recent news, I wanted to get some fresh gouge and see if anyone has made the jump from this sh!tbag of an airline (ASA) to a well run one that actually cares about its people and doing a job well.

I know it's a lateral move but I just can't help but feel like I'm on a sinking ship here. It sounds like ExpressJet just got the LAX flying we were doing and that's just the latest in a series of signals that just seems to show that ASA is dying a slow death. The more I think about it, the more I realize I'd rather be at the bottom of the seniority list at a good company with smart management and good prospects than in the middle of the list at a company with terrible management whose future is uncertain at best. Besides, what good is a mid level seniority number when you've got to deal with a scheduling department like we have here? (Low coverage, my a$$!)

What's even better, I can't think of a better way to give management here the finger than to leave here not to go to a major but to go to a competing airline that actually seems to know how to run things.

Any ideas or comments???

Come on over dude....despite the fact that CAL is giving us the big finger these days, things are good and they're still hiring like crazy...the more the merrier.

Come on over....I left ASA in December 05, and it was the best move I've ever made. Future is really bright here at XJT. Good luck with whatever you decide. PM me if you have any questions.

I'm sure our new Captains would be glad to fly with a few experienced FO's that can actually help keep them out of trouble instead of figuring out a way to get them into it.

I would be carefull what you pa31350pilot tells you. His upper lip is always red from all that koolaid he's drinking.

Ummmm....ok cowpie. You must have cowpies for brains, since you can't spell. I'm just trying to help the guy out. You are probably management serving koolaid. Chill out!

HAHA Yeah I guess I cant spell. But I was joking. pa31350 pilot knows what he is talking about. He worked for ASA then came to Express. He can tell ya all about the transition.

The reason for the transfer isn't the type of plane but the company I'll be working for. ASA has consistenly shown that it doesn't give a crap about it's people so why should it's employees stay around to be abused.

I'd also like to thank pa31350pilot, talk about a class act. He's a good example of why I'd rather go to XJet, than ASA and has already been a good contact for some great info...

Are you sure you're not Scott Hall?

I am at ASA too and looking at XJT. Seems like they just want the low timers. Is this because once everyone gets the time they lose them so fast or what? any hope?

not true....while xjt's mins are low they hire a very wide variety of pilots. I know of many regional guys who have made the jump from regional X to xjt.

It is amazing how many are looking to leave. Everyone I talk to has their resume out and even to non-flying jobs. The only ones that are not looking are the pilots that are close to upgrading.

Funny thing.. I turned down xjt recall back in 2003 to stay here at ASA.... Just because they are doing good now does not mean they will not be back in the situation they were in back in 2003.. They had just authorized a strike, and they had no problem putting their "LOVED" pilots on the street 11 days after the towers fell...

Good luck to you! I have buddy that just upgraded and he has been there for two years... we discuss thier contract and thier scheduling system... and it blows ASA's out of the water... if I were not a single parent I would have considered the move...so make your move but only if you think it is going to be worth it... look at this... it just posted this morning..
  • Will open up an LAX base this summer out of LAX to fly for Delta Connection using 10 aircraft
  • New pilot domicile to open in San Antonio
  • Launching on April 2nd self-branded airline using 44 aircraft
  • Offering new routes serving unique city pairs such as San Diego-Omaha and Sacramento-Tucson
  • New airline to offer leather seats and satellite radio
  • New pilot domicile will be ONT
  • Approx. 30+ XJT captains per month being hired by Continental Airlines
  • Corporate division operates EMB145XRs doing charters
  • Charter override: $18/hr
  • ExpressJet routemap

people where furloughed as you know only because of the Flowthrough or back agreement;had it not been for that no one would have been furloughed in my opinion. Just think if you would have come back to XJT you would have been a "Loved" Captain for over a year and a half now. just goes to show you just never know.

The flying that XJET gets is suppose to be to and from Mexico only. One year contract only.

If that's true, why did I get my revisions yesterday and add:
SEA
PDX
OAK
SFO

We are not going to ANY of those places currently (CAL or Branded). If they were just alternates they would be included only in our "brick". I'm sure if this thing is officially acknowledged soon, we'll find out the deal is longer than a year.

ASA currently flies to those cities out of LAX. I am not sure about PDX, and SEA might have been announced but not started yet. We also fly to RNO, SMF, and LAS.

Great company and I couldnt be more pleased..I am a TSA alum and well I hate HoJets......XJT's been great been here 1 year and 4 months I don't commute but the schedules and lines are great.... uncertain future here but our management looks like they are doing everything in their power to make money and keep the company going forward...! Roll the dice...if you please...XJT loves 121 guys/gals the automated system can lead to some missed resumes if you know someone here they can send the DO your resume through the company email and that usually leads to a timely call!

Cheers,
Stinker

Good luck with your decision!!
