Ok, so I got JR. Manned a couple of weeks ago and I hear a lot about other guys getting extended and all of the other kinds of shortage issues they are having right now. Not to mention Mgmt. crying the blues and paying 150% for open time pick ups.

My 4 day trip worth 22.5 hours just got taken for OE. I saw it on flica and called scheduling to verify. They informed me that the trip was taken and that they didn't have anything else for me. All electronic devices have just been placed in the off position for the duration of the trip. Merry Christmas!

To all the guys who get extended this week... I feel your pain.

Whenever I look in the can, I see a lot of KO's flying with high number (24xxx) FOs. I see this on almost every plane I get swapped to.

Five resignations today if I overheard the gossip correctly.

People are leaving ASA for better jobs and some are just leaving because they are scared. It would be nice if someone would tell us the plan for this place. Right now we don't even need a 5 year plan, we want to know what is going to happen in five weeks.

Back to back announcements of losing a base and a "bad news day" with our company losing the entire ATL ground operation & our GO closing is not making people confident.

Go is closing?
Getting moved into the maintenance hangar on the North Side. The other rumor is that lot C parking will be moved to the old NorthWest hangar (wonder if they ever cleaned all the HazMat). AirTran is supposed to be getting lot C.

Fins, you need to take a break from the rumor mill for a while....

if your trip gets taken for training, you are on reserve (with a 12 hour callout) for the footprint of your trip. So, your last day is basically free.

9 out of 10 times you are correct on that, but he may have been released 100% which is one of the options they never seem to give me.

I specifically asked if I need to answer my phone and be available. The scheduler, I won't mention his/her name stated "you can if you want to be nice".... duh! Off!

I am guessing that you had a DI arounf 1340 today for a four day.
If they did not have a trip for you it is a 12 hr call out. Do not give them anything less.

40 resignations being turned in this month

Just take a look behind Mary Jane's desk, there is a roll cart that has all the jep's that have been turned in. She says it overflows at least twice a week, and Leonard can't pick it up fast enough. I would be the average has been 40 and will stay consistent for the unforseable future. My prediction is the "bottom" will be reached when BL resigns. This will allow St. George to bring in the savior of the company to run it. Contract, 2008, maybe. Pilot shortage, forever!

Last year, wasn't there a hiring freeze? I thought there was a period of time when ASA didn't run any new hire classes. From April until November last year (2006)? Anyone know if there was such a freeze for a while?

That's nothing new. That rumor has been around a least a year. I remember hearing it long before I left last year. The airport authority wants to put ASA in the old Northwest place, but from what I heard, there are issues with the EPA about getting it cleaned up.

For all you guys who want to jump ship: Life is good at Citation Shares and they are looking for more people.

I remember that. My bet is that it was smoke and mirrors attempting to influence the contract negotiations.

"Oh my stars, things are horrible. We are losing airplanes to Skywest and now they aren't running any classes. Heavens to Betsy, we'd better make a concessionary deal!"

Ohhh I get it... so they physically moved ASA airplanes to Skywest Airlines?

Oh ok. Cause I remember they stopped classes for a few months, and even then I'm sure there was attrition... so how did they get new pilots? If airframes were removed, then that would have helped cancel out the effects of the attrition. But again, like you said, sounds like a management tactic to sign a concessionary contract using the 'loss of airframe' fear card.

Eight 700s were scheduled to go to SKW, but only 4 left (701, 702, Christine aka 703, and 704). When the announcement was made that SKW was to receive 8 of CMRs aircraft and route them to ASA, Bryan made up his now infamous "16 net gain aircraft" speech that made everyone with basic math skills laugh out loud. His spin was that we were to lose 8, and are gaining 8, which in his mind equals 16 aircraft. Bottom line is, we lost 4, we were to lose 4 more which we never did, and are to receive a total of 8, which puts us up to a fleet total of 39. Basic math says that will are supposed to have 4 more aircraft than we did before the entire fiasco began it's new chapter.

So when the F&^$ am I going to upgrade... I would not be suprised (MURPHYS LAW) if now that attrition is through the roof, we start to lose airframes and begin a furlough... That would be my luck...

And about Citation Shares... I think that pay for training and signing of training contracts should be illegal, and if you do it you should be shot because you just promote the destruction of the advancement of the pilot profession....

Since I am on topic,

I was just reading careerbuilders.com and looking at jobs other than aviation, and 90% of the job postings paid more than a 10 year captain a regional and fractional, and they paid to relocate you when you get hired, they would freaking babysit your child to get you to work there....

Then I went to corporatepilot.com and you were required to have 7000 hours of which 3000 must be in type PIC,(lear, gulfstream, citation, kingair) take your pick and you must be typed in their entire fleet.. Not to mention you get paid the same wage as a McDonalds manager working a fry daddy, and they dont really even want you to work for them in the first place....

IF I HAD 7000 HOURS PIC IN TYPE OF A ANYTHING THAT REQUIRED A TYPE RATING, WHY THE F%$# WOULD I EVEN APPLY TO YOUR SH!TTY COMPANY?

The bitch is possessed with Murphy's law. She hardly ever flies without a deferal sticker. Unfortunately, 761ND has our deceased Chief Pilot's evil ghost inside of it. He, too, is possessed.

Dude, you need to step away from that METH PIPE you have been smokin!!

What most of you don't understand is that Skywest, Inc wants all you to leave. They'd like to shut the place down. As you guys leave they'll transfer the flying that needs to be covered to the Skywest side. Skywest is now in AtL. Wake up folks! When Skywest, Inc first bought ASA, and you can verify this, I said in the days after the sale that this is what Skywest, Inc was going to do and you all thought I was crazy. I repeat, Skywest, Inc doesn't care for, or like or have any respect for the employees of ASA. The most certainly do not like the union and will destroy it any way they legally can. Skywest didn't want ASA, it was forced on them by Delta. They were told either buy ASA or we'll find another buyer and give them the SLC flying too. Before every employee leaves, when the company is small enough, then they will integrate what pilots are left into Skywest, they'll stick you anywhere, like it or not since the ASA pilot group will be too small to do anything about it. I also said in the days after the sale that ASA was going to get the boot out of SLC and that Skywest was coming to ATL. It wasn't that hard to see the writing on the wall. I'm not trying to be a dick about this, gloat or wish ill will to anyone. I also have friends at ASA and they just don't get it and they continue to live in denial. Good luck!

Hey skywest pilots.... GET A FREAKING CLUE.. Take a look at what Delta Just did to our ASA rampers and Gate agents.... They are non union labor and they all just got FIRED.....SO what was it you were saying Erlanger? What was that about wanting to get rid of ASA and ASA pilots.... Did I hear you say that we wont have a voice loud enough..... We are UNION @$$hole our voice will be heard if there is only one of us left.... Knee caps are going to get broken..
