I think Jerry was probably doing his damdest to keep from busting up laughing while looking at the white shirts wandering up and down the sidewalk in front his building on an out of the way road in an little retirement town in the middle of the desert.
Except the local media in the STATE made the Pilots out to be arrogant and Jerry just trying to get the job done...
I bet the purpose was to show how backwards and helpless your "powerful ceo" really is when the outside world comes knocking.
No offense to ASA guys i feel bad for you- but Skywest Inc. bought you- delta didnt want you. you are still flying because of Skywest Inc.
alpa DOESNT REPRESENT REGIONAL PILOTS INTERESTS!!!
Wrong on your assessment-
Delta needed a loan for bankruptcy and they used ASA as collateral. Don't forget, they still have the option to buy us back after 4 years (not that they will). In addition to that, we are tied to them at the hip with a 14 year Delta Connection Agreement- pending that we fall in line with a specific cost structure following our new contract. (Which our MEC will blow and make sure we don't make). But hey, it's O.K. because I've been told that other carriers will not bid on our flying in order to avoid a whipsaw-...........Riiiiiiiiight.......
I just think it was more of a flop than the union wants it to be... If you can only have 25-30 people picket- why not organize and have 20-30 picket at some airports served by asa and get some real attention? (ohhh its alpa- they just want Skywest money... they dont care about ASA... If they did-they would have picketed Delta when Delta owned them- i answered my own question..)
I guess being 'backwards and helpless' helped Jerry take a bankrupt airline that the owners couldn't give away and turn it into the industry leading company that it is today. that or 30 plus years of 'luck,' right?
...but I guess you knew that already.
Your gonna have to elaborate and go farther than that in your point- sorry....just finished up 4 day trip....brain no worky so good.........
I was referring to your (....... ) statements
I'm a little confused. How can you blame JA for what is going on at ASA. I believe it is the union and ASA management that can't seem to get their contract squared away.
How does JA come into this?
oh...Tomct I noticed on another thred you tore someone up because they mentioned that th 75 and 76 rates are the same at the majority of the airlines because they get paid more. Why don't you ask those pilots what they think about their payrates. I'm sure they will say it is rediculous as well. We fly 50, 66, and 70 RJs...I agree they are bigger aircraft...but tey do have a point...common type same pay rate.
But the bigger paying jobs won't go to the regional guy that just bled for the betterment of the industry, but rather to the fighter jock that was a squadron bud of the Delta 7-6 captain..........

And which airline are you speaking of?
ASA did picket the Delta shareholder's meeting over a year ago. It was the best turnout of pilots that we had.... I think close to 200 showed.
According to guys that were there, it went GREAT!! JA even came out and talked to DW! Of course JA was talking out the side of his mouth..."we want to get these issue's done ASAP!" What a Snake in the Grass! Would probably sell his own mother if it would keep unions off his property!
What would you expect him to say? "Yeah. We saw them out there picketing. But, f*** 'em....they aren't getting another red cent"
heres a much easier question..how many showed?
If you read the other post you sill see that close to 100 showed. And only 20-30 can picket at a time.
ASA was never bankrupt, DAL was not DCI. Yeah we would have been folded into it as well but ASA was always self sustaining. DAL sold us for the cash not cause they couldn't give us away. ASA was the most viable subsidiary to sell at the time. Why do you think Jerry bought us? Dumas! He got a great deal on a money making airline. Have you seen the profit margines lately? They have only changed a point or 2 since SKW bought us. Jerry didn't turn us into an industry leading company like you think he did.
