I interviewed with ASA on February 15th and they say it takes a week and a half to two weeks to get the good or bad letter. It will be exactly two weeks tomorrow and I haven't heard anything yet. Did anyone else that interviewed with them hear back anytime sooner or later? Thanks all!

I do not want to speculate...but a rule of thumb is the longer you wait, the better the results. Sometimes it takes a while for the FBI background check, or maybe something small came up, and had to be checked out. Usually no big deal. If they alreay were set on not hiring you, you would get the reject letter pretty quickly.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Are you absolutely out of your friggin mind?

If ASA has not done what they said they would do, don't be surprised. ASA also publishes a schedule. According to the Company's own statistics they don't do what they say they are going to do 70% of the time.

Call them up and complain, they will probably junior man you for a Continuous Duty Overnight. When you tell them you have not been hired yet, they will tell you to take it up with a Chief Pilot and that you can expect a disciplinary letter. Problem is, you can't grieve it because you don't work here yet. Seventy passengers will be stranded, the gate will tell them it is because a Pilot did not show up for work.

Why would anyone consider coming here? Do you like picketing? Are you looking forward to standing around a barrell with your union buddies burning firewood next winter?

Glad I could help.

Holy sh.it thats funny!

I for one, can't wait to strike.....I'll bring the "box of joe" from Dunkin Donuts, along with a few dozen glazed.

I heard from a friend in training that all classes through May are booked up with FLYI guys, I don't know if this is true, but that might explain something.

new hire worries

Do not forget to have some extra clothes ready because you could be tdy'ed in Salt Lake without being tdy'ed. When you exsplain you dont work here yet they will want to know why you were in salt lake to start with, you were supposed to be on reserve in ATL!!! D#$% it!!! I guess we will have to dead head you to ATL, stay overnight on stand bye, I mean ready reserve, and we will dead head you back when you are outside the footprint of your trip. But if you are really lucky we will let you teach ground school or give a checkride, when our instructors go on their mutinity because they are about to get ------ well you know.

If you are waiting for the letter then no news is good news for now. Id give a call if you dont hear by about 3 weeks or so I guess. Waiting for a class date...I hear May is almost full.

8hour- 4 Flyi'ers in my class......glad to have them...great bunch of guys

Lots of jokes here...please tell me this is one of them!

Dont' worry, we are yeeeeeaaaarrrsss away from being released for a strike.

Having said that, I am very ready to strike. I'm tired and pi.ssed off, and frankly feel that the ASA pilot group has little to lose.

Hey look on the brightside.....they finnally announced implementation of the immediate action cards that they have been talking about for the last year. It can only get better from here....hopefully.

jj

Maybe ACARS soon...or is that too much to wish for.
I can only see it saving the company money.
May hurt our ontime performance initially, but it will even out.

Finally got the good letter after it got delivered to my neighbors house by mistake. Crazy mail lady. Now I guess it's sit around and be patient for a class date. Anyone else have a timeframe on how the classes are filling up and how long its taking to get into class? Thanks guys!

Poor Fins.....

Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, Lithium, Prozac, .......

D*MN IT, WHICH ONE DO I TAKE NEXT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Ouch, that was loud.

I don't post much and for good reason I guess, but am I the only one who thinks that ASA is a pretty good place to be. Except for the junior manning lately and the contract issue ASA is really nice. Now with the immediate action cards the six month check study time will be reduced and an actual emergency will be handled properly without depending on memory to change critical configuations of the A/C. Welcome aboard everyone, I look forward to flying with you soon.

Sure thing?

They were talking about implimenting those cards when I got off my first military recall in June 2003. Ill believe it when I see it! They have two more years untill I get off of this one so it could happen. ;)

I've seen the cards in two out of the last 3 planes I've been in. They make a great shoe horn for getting the can back down in the cubby (you know how the bolt in the middle of the see-gee prevents the can from easily sliding back down in there).

Believe it. The immediate action cards were already in all three of the aircraft I flew on my last 3 day. There was also a bulletin on Flica outlining the new process with all aircraft to have the cards by March 13th I believe. For real this time, no joke.

No joke, throw my name in the hat! I'm prepared and ready to strike, if our union will get off of their a$$ and send out a strike vote!

You realize they can't just send out a strike vote at this point, dont you?

Legally, we have to go through the steps.

The next one would b convincing the NMB that we are at an impass and making ZERO progress.

Then Arbitration is offered, which both sides would decline.

Then a cooling off period

Then MAYBE! we can be released to self help.

If you read the latest negotiation briefing on the ALPA website, managment has decided to come to the table with some offers that actually shows SOME progress in section 13 , therefore the NMB sees progress and now the process is delayed that much more.

Our CNC is not sitting on their A$$ as you imply, they are working very hard within the system they are binded to legally. Have a bit more respect for these volunteers, and call up Management and tell them to get up off their A$$.

But I share your frustration dude.
