Has anyone mastered the science of the bucket list with ASA's reserve. I'd love to understand my chances of being called but have no idea how to read the reserve list. Also can anyone on reserve with experience tell me the likely hood of being called as the day gets later into your reserve period. For example, 9AM-12AM. What's the latest you have been called for a flight for that particular day? Thanks!

Good luck with the predictions. The last time I looked at the list and decided since I was at the bottom of my bucket that there wasn't a chance of me being used, I actually told my wife, "let's go do something, there's not a chance they'll call me today." I swear the call came not ten seconds later. So who knows.

A lot of it is luck in exactly what kind of trips pop up at the last minute. I've been called at 11:55 pm when my rsv period ended at midnight. However, that's not too common. Usually, the call comes in early in the reserve period, but not always.

With three more aircraft out of the fleet, I'm thinking it's gonna be awhile til we all get off this danm reserve.

If your reserve ended at 12 and they called you at 11:55 and you get two hours???
I guess it was for the next day?
And how is the bucket determined? Seniority, days available, hours used so far? Thanks.

Dude, we have a contract. Read it.

No, it was a MCN repo flight, same night. Once they call you within the reserve period, you're now only subject to the rest lookback rule, not any 14 hour scheduled rule, since 14 hours only applies to scheduled duty time, and reserve is neither duty nor rest. So basically they had four hours to get me done--two for call-out, one to get the plane ready, and one to make the flight. It's just barely possible with MCN.

Buckets are defined by the number of days you have available left on reserve before your next day off or flight assignment. Read the contract, Section 13 p 108-109 for all the complicated bucket rules, but basically it goes: long call CMF in seniority order, long call no pref in credit-hours-so-far order, short call CMF in seniority order, short call no pref in credit hours. And if you have over guarantee for the month, they can bypass you. Who knows if they follow the list all the time, though.

Sorry, but I disagree. If they call you and your two hours will be outside your reserve period, then I'm not showing up.

Thats the way the old contract was, and I have not heard different for this one, nor read different.

Just to be sure, you were done at 12 midnight and that included your 3hr available? You are RES9am?

If this is you, then you were fooled. the last 3 hrs is for assignment the next day.

Now, if you are RES12, and they called at 11:55pm then the got yah fair and square.

I always check the list when they give me an assignment. I've caught them a few times handing out assignments out of order and they've actually taken it off.

Thanks for the info, it's becoming a little clearer now.

I was RS12, they got me fair and square at the last possible moment. (I call the reserve period over after 12 hours, even though they can still call me for another three. At least I can have a beer in my hand then).

CS is very bad at giving out trips out of order. What's more is they do not credit you correctly on e-trip and as a result e-trip. got ready reserve-3:45 credit, not 4. I did a nap the other night that was just shy of 11hrs scheduled. etrip says 3:45. Pete says that the Union is gonna have to get a little nastier with the company as they have had plenty of time to adjust to the new contract. Bring it on. Problem is if we don't let the union know when they screw things up the union doesn't know the problem is there in need of fixing.

Fat Tire is a great beer! I had a great wheat beer in Wichita not too long ago- Boulevard Wheat I believe it was called. For now, I'm on a Sam Adams kick- love the Black Lager and Irish Red.

I think the best kick in the face I've ever tried was Arrogant Bastard Ale. Definately a different kind of beer- think it was brewed with more hopps than any other beer out there.

Yup, it's back to reserve in a couple of more days. I start and finish OE over the next three days and then I'll be the plug on the -200. Got a lot of reading to do regarding the contract. I skimmed over it to get the gist prior to the vote, then put it down and hit "master dump" til now. I got spoiled- was only on reserve for one month as a newhire......this is going to take some getting used to.
