I think you just got the jest of it.
1. dont answer your phone while not on reserve.
2. from the time of CONTACT, you have 3 hours until the flight departs regardless of what time its scheduled for.
3. don't sweat being a little late a few times a year.

Don't answer the phone unless you are on duty.

I have never answered the phone while not on duty but I can't tell you how many people make the same mistake as you did.

It always takes two hours to get to the airport.

Put you house phone as primary and cell as secondary. That way when you leave the airport you have to get all the way home before you have to respond to any other phone calls. You are not required to have a cell phone.

Kinda off topic here, but ASA requires you guys to "check-in" on a computer at the airport? If that's how I see it, wow, our contract just got even better.

]On the positive side, the captain I was with turned out to be really cool. I'd heard a couple of the other captains that I'd flown with bad-mouth the guy, but he turned out to be great.

Who was it?

Another thing to do when you think you might be late.. Get the name of your captain, have them call him to call you.. Get him to duty you in. Works all the time.
