ASA Prelims/Finals

Wondering.....how come if there is a prelim out for, say, 6 CR7 Capts, when the finals come out and usally the 6 awarded the slots were CR2 or ATR captains, why does the final not also include 6 upgraded to refill those 6 slots on the CR2 or ATR? It seems every Captain award should have upgrades. But the opposite happens more often than not. Just curious if anyone has some insight to why we don't replace the captain slots from those going up to the 700.

Cause they aren't that smart! You havn't learned that yet? What is common sense to everyone else gets a "Oh, yeah.......I didn't think of that." response from those in charge over there.

Maybe they don't need them filled

I think because the training is so short on the 700 - one week, that they have to train the 200 upgrade first, then fill the 700 openning. Cant really do both at the same time since upgrade is about a month, transition two months but differences only half a month.

CRJ is correct. You have the have the replacements trained up before you can let others off the airplane.
