ASA non-revers on Delta

Does anyone know if Delta is charging ASA employees and spouses the $5 segment fee and per mile charge? I've heard that they aren't charging anyone. Is that true?

Nope, those S2 are only good on ASA flights, if you've been here longer than 10 years you get 6 S2's if you have been here less than that you only get 3 S2's. You get unlimited S3's on ASA flights and I believe unlimted S3C's on DL flights, along with S3CC on all other Connection flights Skywest included. You also have less Transocenic flights with S3C priority and after you use up your (18 flight days) you drop to S4 status.

While I hate the "new" pay per segment policy at Delta, and agree about the Almighty Double Breasted Delta D!cks, I have to say that is the dumbest statement I have ever heard. The jumpseat is not a weapon, it is not a negotiating tool, it is an extra seat to facilitate pilots' ability to live where they want.

I am a commuter and I have now started to see a backlash from Delta pilots who are getting screwed or given a hard time about our new pass benefits. So basically all you are doing is screwing your fellow ASA pilots who are trying to make this thing work. Luckily the Delta guy I dealt with was pretty reasonable and agreed with me that we shouldn't get into a jumpseat war over this. They have nothing to do with our pass privileges. They do not negotiate for them and shouldn't have to.

He asked me to have a word with our pilots about this and I said I would with anyone I talk to. Lets act like professionals. Lets try to get our pass privileges back, but lets not start a jumpseat war with Delta. It's going to end up hurting us more than it hurts them.

you should really just go ahead with that transfer to Mesa that you keep talking about. you'd be able to avoid all the jumpseat issues with DAL, you could get IAD based and just jumpseat on UAL to wherever you need to go, and best of all, could be working for a world class operation, probably the best of the regionals.

Great point Zawiliff. I agree completely. I use Delta and SkyWest and couldn't say enough good things about both sets of Airmen. Everybody I have run into has gone out of their way to be accomodating and welcoming. I try to do the same vice versa when I'm flying. I get a lot of Delta folks, but rarely any SkyWesters. Either way, come one come all, you're always welcome on my jumpseat regardless of opinions/politics.

Speaking from the point of view of the bastard stepchildren of the jumpseat...I can't say enough of about the crews at mainline Delta being so welcoming on my back and forth runs to/from DFW.

It may not matter much to y'all...but a jumpseat war not only hurts your fellow pilots, but hits some of us dispatchers pretty hard, as well.

As far as the segment fees are concerned, I recently read the following:

"segment and mileage fees will not be applied for Delta Air Lines domestic travel. A new fee, likely an increase to your PPR Activation Fee, will be agreed upon sometime in February."

I jumpseat on Delta often, and can't say enough good things about the professionalism of the crews. They went out of their way on my last trip to accomadate me on the flight.

DL guys are always welcome on my jumpseat.

While I think Pennekamp is a pompous ass, and as loath as I am to come to his defense, I really don't think he was refering to the jumpseat in this case. The Delta pilots didn't think we should be given anything over them on "their" airplanes. They lost the grievance, but have been fighting our pass benefits ever since. It appears they finally won.

And just today one of our own ASA cpts denied me another ASA cpt the js for 70# and left with 4 empty seats. got a trip failure. thanks again cpt of the 910am flight tys-atl on 2-22-08

So much for looking out for our own (pilots in general) How the hell does a 70-seater go out with 4 empty seats and still leave a jumpseater at the gate?

There must have been some f'd up fuel numbers to begin with. A quick call to your DX to release 100lbs of hold fuel would have done the trick.
