ASA Newhire Class

anybody get a call or hear about the newhire class in trail of the one that started on March 15th???

6 of those 10 Maybe going to the ATR. I over heard ATR Instructors talking about Gita scheduling six newhires for ATR class next month.

How soon, if at all, can a newhire bid out of the ATR?

No soon enought, just be glad that we don't have the E-120 any longer.

I t really depends on growth. They can keep you on the ATR because it pays the same as the CR2. If there is an opening, they have to let you go to the CR7 because it pays more than the ATR (the catch is that they could keep you on the ATR and pay you by-pass pay for the CR7).

Why the big hurry to get out of the ATR? Seems like a nice airplane.

It's probably been a while since this was talked about, but there were about 6 people from FlightSafety Academy that were in the ASA pool through the ASA program at the academy. What is the status of those folks? Any of them get a class date?

Don't really have a problem with the ATR. The big draw of ASA is a DFW base which is all jet I believe. This is a frustrating development

Swaayze - I would not think getting Dallas would be a problem. If the class is 10 and 6 have the choice to stay in ATL on the ATR, there will be a fight for those 6 slots. Most folks don't want to go to Dallas, hence the reason why Dallas is the junior base.


The ATR is not a bad airplane to start off on. You will probably make more since it is easy to go underblock on the short trips. Until you can hold a line and go over block, ATR reserve is the place to be.

It seems as if the March 29 Myth has come and gone ...

I have heard a lot of the April 12 class. Obviously nobody can admit being assigned to it. Does anybody know how much notice you can expect to receive for a ground school nowadays?

I may be out of the loop on this but March 29th is the 1st new hire class. March 15th was an RJ class but was for transitions/upgrades etc. The 2nd new hire class will be in April some time.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorry RJCAP the march 15 class was 10 newhires and I heard there was a few furloghs and a few FSI direct track in it.

Don't let me give you the wrong impression. I have not heard anything regarding a class date at ASA. We were told to expect to get 2 weeks notice if at all possible, so I'd think calls would go out this coming week to whomever is selected for Apr 12.

The rumors were that most of the hiring would be for DFW, so I had kinda let that get a little too factual in my own mind. I figure with my luck lately that I'll end up at the bottom of the class that has lots of ATR slots!

Reserve on 200 in DFW . .

Anyone care to venture how long they think reserve will last for FO's on the 200 in DFW, given that the new hire class all went there? I have heard they are fat on reserve in ATL, and wonder if DFW is depleted for the most part. Also, if someone gets off reserve, what is the next most likely schedule, Nap line, or relief? And can anyone explain what a relief line is and what it is like? Thanks all.

I woudn't expect a very long reserve if the hiring continues all through 2004. The only reason people have been sitting reserve for so long (leading to their disgruntledness) is because they slid in the door right before hiring stopped in 2002.

Relief lines are a mix of trips and reserve days. Lately, these have been blocked at roughly 75 hours with only a few days of reserve for dfw cr2 fo's.
