Is there going to be a new hire class at ASA somethime this year? After 3 months I'm not sure how much longer I can dog paddle in the pool! Any info or thoughts on applying else where?
Thanks in advance.

RJ, don't listen to all the doomesday sayers on this board. ASA, with all its faults is a good place to work. Unfortunatly, we are stuck in the contract negotiations ritual when both sides fight it out for a few years then at the final hour say lets kiss and make up. Every carrier goes through this ritual so it is not an ACEY only thing. If you have any questions about that just ask a Mesaba driver.

The only hiring that we did was for attrition and I don't foresee any more hiring until the new deal is inked. We all hope that will be soon, but your guess is as good as mine.

Waaaaa! I was in the pool for 18 months for my first airline job. You'd better get some patience because the days of immediate employement/quick upgrade are rapidly disappearing.

But yes, I know it's difficult. Hang in there.

The best rumor yet!!!

I was talking with one of our CP the other day and this is what he told me!

1.) all CRJ-700 will transfer to Skywest who will fly them out of ATL on all of our current flights.

2.) In return we will get 25 CRJ-200 from the desert some of which will fly the LAX base flights.

3) Q-400's will replace ATR's

4) Best for last!!! 30 of the 65 EMB-120 that skywest owns will transfer to ASA to be flown out of the ATL and LAX hubs!

I don't want to start a flamebait war and this might just be smoke and mirrors for the next time MANG meets with ALPA to try and get something done. I am only telling you what the CP's told me... let the comments begin

I wish that when I was in the pool, it was only for 3 months. I sat in that damn thing for 6 months, and now I am stuck at the bottom. But, I am the eternal optimist.

With 3 done that means only 3 to go! More or less. Guess it'll have to do. More time to do nothing and fly the little plane. At least we're eating.

Go to Skywest. Not being negative, just realistic.

I second that. Go to Skywest, or CHQ, and you will be a Captain before I will, and I have been here 4 years!

Classes of 30 every two weeks for the next four months. You heard it here first and we all know how accurate Flight Info is. That's why there is the word "Info" in the title.

I am by the way, being sarcastic.

Yep - go to CHQ, or one of their "family" of carriers. It is all one seniority list. Wait for a good job.

I would not recommend SkyWest. Too many risks. SkyWest is playing a whipsaw game and usually that backfires on management.

I was wondering when a new class would start. I heard 11 FO's put in their resignations last week. Hopefully they were all senior to me!

Just got the call, baby!

Sept. 10th Class. Anyone else???

ASA - here I come!

I'm sorry. My condolences. Welcome aboard, I guess.

The Sept. 10th class is not true. First of all... why would they start class on Sunday? Second of all... pilot recruiting confirmed this is bogus.

Are you kidding me?

Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Just kidding. Bad joke, I know.

Hang in there guys. I have also heard a lot of f/o's are leaving. I know of 2 personally. It can't be too much longer...especially since BL is catching it for letting the ramp get so under staffed.

FO Staffing is hiting critical levels. Flights got cancelled last night, Chief Pilots and IP's are covering SLC trips, and CAT II limitations mean that regular line Captains can not be used to back fill.

The September reduction in flying should help, but with all the FO junior manning, schedule changes and extensions the number of people moving on will increase. Just about everyone I know at ASA is out interviewing.

I'm not sure ASA has a future, but if they do, they are going to have to launch a few new hire classes before long.

But why would anyone come to an airline where most pilots are leaving (or trying to)?

Because they are leaving hell holes like TSA and Mesa.

Doubt the winter lines will help much. Seems like Spt is always jerked up when the airlines transistion to the new schedule. Oct is sure to be better or at least have more hours.

Last time I got a tease like that involved me losing $20 and a girl named "Dreamer". I thought I was gonna go from 41 off the bottom to 42!!!

Soooo, back to the original question...

Any idea when ASA will have a new class?

I recently talked to one of the basic indoc instructors and he said that there was possibly going to be a new hire class or two in September but for attrition only. He also said that ASA has started interviewing again.

Hope this helps. I was in the pool for about six months and know what its like.

Please let all us poolies know of anything when you guys hear it! - And no more mean jokes this time.

I know they are all rumors until they actually call us for a class... but at least we can get our hopes up for a few minutes. Rumors are better than nothing.:uzi:

Just came back from ATL on an ASA interview 23/24. 3 of us interviewed I was the only one to make it through phase 1&2 Managment said that they are building a pool and there speculating that they will be hiring late fall.
