Back in 1998 when our last contract went into effect, we were given several application guidlines for various areas of the contract. It discussed real life possible situations and what the contract's "intent" was in regards to those situations. The publication was a mutual consent from both the company and alpa as to how things would be interpreted.
These guidlines proved very helpful. During the first three years of the of the contract, life at ASA was pretty good. They helped to stop Danny R's campaign to backload naps by simply renaming them "overnight daylines". It wasn't until Scott Young came along and negotiations started that the company became so interested in "reinterpretation". By then, we had some "past practices" guidlines to help us out a little.
I'm just wondering and hoping if our MEC and the company are going to include similar "application guidlines" in the roadshow.
Right now, if you look at all the discussion on this board, I think everyone would agree; It could only help.
