Atlantic Southeast Airlines - Hiring CRJ-700, CRJ-200 & ATR-72-210 First Officers Submit Your Resume

Found this on the Job fair page of climbto350. ONE QUESTION!!!! Why is MGMT spending money to go to a job fair when the company is not hiring anyone and looking to possibly furlough????

For the same reason I read Maxim. They like to dream about hiring new pilots that don't cost as much as those of us who (gasp) bid three whole weeks of vacation in one year.

Furlough...who said anything about a furlough...LOL..

I have not heard them mention that...they have said that attrition is going to make up for these 70 seat aircraft that we are "losing" (but haven't actually lost yet and has yet to be seen if we will actually have a net loss in aircraft at all.

That's because we are still growing regardless of supposedly losing the 70/90. The kool-aid is on boil right now, making a nice brew. They take us all for a bunch of idiots. The stike vote should be released soon.

Lets see, they are threatening the IP's with with decreasing the size of the training dept. Now let's go to a job fair and line up folks to come to traning??

ASA is the only DCI carrier with the overwater exemption. The planes that are going fly over water are going to have first class seats in them because that's where the money is.

This mgmt team dosen't play poker very well at all, hell they don't do anything very well at all!!!!!!!!

OH YEAH IN FAVOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think it takes much to get an over water exemption. Mesa could put that together next week.

ASA Instructors are in SLC to help with SKYW's overwater exemption - they will have it soon.

don't think thats true. The fall schedule shows the E170 going to St Croix. So they must have an overwater exemption, or at least be getting one.

Michael,

I could be wrong, but I think you can remain within 50 miles of land at all times on the way to STX. I believe that's the way ASA had been doing it up to this point.

Don't THINK SO there Report! It takes longer than most people think. Either way, UNLESS they get their "Mgmnt Sh2t" together, those airplanes won't be going ANYWHERE!!!!!

Here's a number for us to all call- 1-800-772-6739
Its to report ATL airport corruption- lets all report management to them!
If its busy its because I'm calling first..........

Is ASA gaining 50 seaters?

I flew ship 680 yesterday (it was a piece of sh!t). It was an old Indy plane pulled out of the desert according to the MX guys, and has only been at ASA for two weeks. I know we have other Indy planes in the fleet but didn't know we had received some so recently.

Supposedly we are getting 6 of these.

Did it ever occur to you that unless the pilot applicant pool is maintained, when (and if) the next big expansion comes, or when the majors start hiring again that there won't be the bodies to staff the line?

If you are complaining about job fairs, don't be complaining about being extended because there are not enough bodies in the pool to hire and staff the line when those situations come to pass at ASA. You can't on one hand criticize management for not thinking ahead and then criticize them when they do think ahead. Don't do that - it makes you look like simple malcontents, complaining no matter what the conditions. Its beneath you as a professional.

Okay, I won't complain about the job fair, but I will complain about the fact that they cannot properly equipe the workforce they presently HAVE!!!!! What do you have to say about that "Oh Great Firehose?"

We can go to STX without the overwater exemption. It's the other places that we will need it for.

The following info was received by an IP in RGT last week. Skywest, Comair, and CHQ do not have the OWE and are not looking to get it for two reasons.
1. The cost of keeping all aircraft certified. The last three days that I have flown, I've had mechanic on my airlplane as soon as I hit the gate to make sure that every life vest holder has a security tag on the box. Evidently the FA's cannot do this. My flights have not been anywhere near the water.
2. It took ASA a year to get the OWE. He stated that for any other DCI carrier to get the OWE it would take a about a year.

Firehose, I'm not complaing about the job fair. I'm bring up the point that the IP's are being told that ASA has to many IP'S and we don't need that many, because we are not going to be hiring any time soon.(yea right) I'm not sure how long you've been here but it seems that we are never staffed like we need to be. A couple of years ago the IP'S got the side letter to keep them from leaving. Why do you think Drewblows is no longer with us. if you rember we lost about 20% of our flying because we could not man the airplanes. Drew let our staffing levels get to low.

The IP who gave me this info has not been wrong in 7 years.

An IP told me that several instructors where in SLC working with SKYW to get the OWE. It may take a little while, but they will get it.

Had a PC last week and was told SKYW picked up all of our OWE documents 2 weeks ago and are using at as the template to submit theirs ASAP. 700's to cycle thru ATL as soon as this fall.

Don't you think this might be Jerry following thru on what he said he would do? When will some of you realize that these aren't idle threats?

O.K. Dudley. Get out of your G.O. cubicle and fly the line so that you can get a dose of reality. Or give back your 107+ guarantee to the company and do nothing for 75 hour guarantee. Show us your leadership by leading. Better yet call Skippy and ask him if you can be his boy in the islands. Tell Donna to clean the guest room and buy more groceries you are on the way.

The IP's have spread more wild rumors of doom and gloom than Tutt, and BL.

Or just go on a diet, Biscuit.

:rolleyes:Driver, they won't be able to get that OWE for ATLEAST a year. No matter how hard they try, the Govmnt hurries for NO ONE!!! If they want to come to ATL, by all means, COME ON DOWN!!!! They will then get a little taste of SH!TLANTA!!!

VOTED IN FAVOR!!!!:uzi:

If Bizjet, Pennekamp, ASARJMan are any indication of how our union reps are, we are in serious trouble.

And if your overfed lazy, cubicle living, flightinfo reading arse is any indication of how ASA management is, we're in serious trouble.

C'mon, tell everyone why us old timers call you "Biscuit", William. It's a funny story.
