Has anyone actually sat in the jumpseat on ASA? I believe they are CASS but have never riden in the cockpit with them. Thanks in advance...

We are CASS! Hope you have short legs, CRJ jumpseats hurt. Also, don't count on getting up front if it's a full boat on a shorter (< 1.5hrs) flight with weather. The CRJ is nose heavy and jumpseaters hurt the balance a lot.

The gate computers in ATL wont allow CASS pilots access to your cockpits. I dont know why...

Sure they do. I've alread had maybe 4 OAL JS riders since we implemented CASS. Maybe your computer operator wasnt working correctly. If that happens again go to another gate and ask them if they know how to do it.

I've ridden the ASA jumpseat many times since they went CASS. The CRJ jumpseat is never fun for the 2-hour flight to DTW, but it beats using the commuter clause and losing the pay for the trip.

Make sure that they are using you airlines correct code. IE not the Major that you are code sharing with. Also give them your passport number that will help.

I believe the CASS issues are when the RJ's are leaving from the E gates. A Delta gate agent told me they can't pull up the CASS pictures on those computers. If the flight's leaving from E, you may have to get your jumpseat request at the ticket counter. Delta has always been very cool about trying to help me. But then again, I may not know what I'm talking about.

ASA or anyone out of atlanta be aware. Concourse D computers are the problem with CASS. You'll need to go to another Concourse to list C works then go back to the gate. For some reason the computers on D concourse can only access intranet sites and not internet (which CASS requires). Any Airline that is using D concourse will have this problem. Be ware.

I've been using CASS on D on USAir and Freedom with no problems.

The problem I had was at ATL C Concorse and the computer said cockpit access NO. I couldnt see what she typed for airline code, thats a good point. The gate agent was professional but it is a concern. It was a 70 seater. Commuting is tricky business.

There should be no problem with CASS on any ATL concourse except E. If the information given to the gate agent is not completely correct (airline code, etc), then it will not work (garbage in=garbage out). It should also be remembered that many gate agents are not the sharpest kinves in the drawer, so we are letting Delta mainline have all of them that they can hire as of June 1. Let the fun begin!

Yes, if you are CASS you are more than welcome... We operate no different then anyone else. If there is a seat in the back grab it, if not, welcome to the CRJ straightback...

The problem is with the "common use" gates on D concourse. i.e. most of the ones on the south end that AirTran uses as well as some ASA flights. Continental, Northwest, USAir etc. are using their "own" gates and computers - that's why they have no problem.
