I went for an interview and passed both days of interviews and sim. I got along great with everyone and had a great time. After taking the piss tests and fingerprinting Capt Robertson wanted to talk with us individually. All the other guys were assigned class dates. With me he looked through my paperwork, asked me about the militaryandif i was still instructing at -----. Well I'm gonna have to make a few calls before I can give a commitment he told me. My heart sunk. I could only think because I have been arressted in 97 and 99 for simple assault, damage to private property, and then for disorderly conduct. He told me he would call me in 3-4 days to advise me. From what I saw I liked the place and really want to get on with them but, am I done cause of my record or is this common with questional backgrounds? Anything will be much appreciated. Thanks all

Yea, dude, that's too close for comfort. Airport access and crimes commited within the last 10 years probably had something to do with it.

I had an arrest record in my past like you! I managed to get hired by 3 differnet airlines with no problem. I was forward with my interviewers and mentioned the conviction. I was honest from the begining and they never said another word about it. My suggestion to you, is in the future carry documentation of your record to any interview. Explain your situation and how you learned from the mistakes you made. Second, talk to an attorney about getting your record expunged. Good luck, let us know how it turns out

All misdameanors- and earlier Dan and some of the retirees were exlaining how they still havent filled the class for the 29th. Yes next time I will bring the reports in also to show it they were nothing dealing with bad morals or ethics.

We just had an FO busted for getting smashed and disorderly on an overnight. Could be the hiring folks are a little sensitive about that type of thing.

And wait a minute here....I just re-read your post. You were busted twice? 97 and 99? Ouch!!

Keep trying though. And have a plan B. There are many ways to make a living flying. This type of work is just one of them.

We're all just one stupid F-up away from being in your shoes, even after having the job for years.

Good luck...and I would change your screenname...it could be part of a pattern.

Makes no sense to me..

Only 2 arrests? Not like we all don't have occasional surges of testosterone that makes us want to beat the living crap outta someone.

I think they're picking on you.

You shoulda beat the crap outta someone in the G.O.....that woulda earned you some respect.

Now 'scuse me while I beat the crap outta my dog.....

That made me laugh!!!!!

Looks like someone needs to have an Anger Management course with Dr. Buddy.

Temper is the one thing you can't get rid of by losing it! :)

after the GRR episode a few weeks ago, I'd say its a bad sign. But hey! Theres always freedom or pennacle. Try again after the GRR things dies down a little more.

Is the DUI/Blow Job queen still doing hiring? If so, you should plead your case to her.

Two arrests? You are suprised that you did not get the job. I feel bad for you, everyone makes mistakes, but you really cant be suprised by this, I wish you the best, keep trying, but I dont think that ASA will take you after what happened last month in GRR.

Wouldn't make any difference. A friend of mine who had her ONE AND ONLY DUI at 21, 5 years before she took her first flying lesson and 8 years before applying at ASA, was ripped a new one for it by Miss Julie herself.

I understand the DUI part of her title but I've never heard about the latter half.

I heard some good stories from people I trust, re: how she was able to stay at ASA with her record.

probably not true. I know a couple of pilots personally that had DUIs and actually one that showed for a trip UI and are still here. I know they diddn't give BJs to ANYONE. Makes for a good story though

Try Con-Air! I hear they are hiring.

Another problem is flying into Canada with this on your record. If it was within ten years it's a pain in the a$$ getting through customs there, and it's very costly to get a letter from the Canadian consulate. And by the way if you have more than one offense good luck getting approved to enter Canada! Go find another regional that does not fly there.

Mesa will take you! China dosn't care about past records so you should be OK there.

In 1995 a guy in my new-hire class got a DUI the first weekend of ground school at ASA.

Had to get his sim partner to come out on a Sunday and bail him out.

He was famous for slapping a wing on the runway in an RJ, then threatening to kill the F/O if he told anybody.....

I hadn't heard that part of the story.
