I am going to be heading out to ATL for an interview with ASA and I am looking for some advise on what to study exactly. I was also wondering how ASA's pay works during training and if they provide you with a hotel.

Thanks for the help!

First year pay sucks, the lowest in the industry for anything but a BE1900, which is a shame. The upside is you do get paid your rate of 19.02 from day 1, and you get your own hotel room during training, also a plus.

The training is first rate. The instructors here are awesome, and the training program is a good one. You will be expected to know your stuff every day. If you do, and have the right attitude, the instructors will get the job done.

All in all, ASA is a good company to work for. The people you work with are great, we fly nice equipment to some pretty cool places - coast to coast.

Good luck.

I wouldnt go waist money on CRJ sim time. People thats never flown something bigger than a light twin with no sim time have gotten through it. I start training on the 20th....

For you current ASA guys, is it possible to commute if you are based in ATL? I live in CVG and figured it would be pretty easy to do, but I really have no idea..........thanks for any help.

The first thing I would study would be the contract and your FAR rest rules. Be prepared to quote them verbatim to most schedulers and chief pilots.

CVG - ATL is one of those commutes where you have to carefully pick your trips. Sometimes the flights are oversold all day, sometimes they're empty. The one nice thing about it is there are LOTS of 2 leg connecting cities served by both ASA and or CMR or mainline. CVG -SDF- ATL or CVG - TYS - ATL, the list goes on and on. Lots of ways to get home really.

Commuting to sit reserve is not really a good idea, you'll be in a crash pad 5 or 6 days straight. Once you're off reserve, which isn't taking too long these days, at least in the -200, you shouldn't have too much trouble commuting out of CGV.

Good luck.

This is no BS... He is very serious! Your contract should be easily accessable at any time, and you should be very familiar with it!... If you have questions FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD, ASK A FELLOW PILOT!

Study hard, but remember.... We dont do ASA FAVORS.. fly the contract!
