Okay, on ATP's website their is a student who was just hired at ASA with....................ready............
291 Total Time, 118 M.E. time!
http://www2.atpflightschool.com/AirlinePlacements/

That's plenty. 118 ME, if spent doing Vee One cuts in a Seneca, means he has strong quadriceps.

Plus, anyone with 291 hours in an airplane has tons of experience to draw upon, which may come in handy some day.

Also, Clearasil is covered by insurance with a Doctor's note.

This is not new news. It's been like this for months.

Its ok he's from ATP that place only teaches what you need to know for the check ride, and that is at best all the instructors know. After college I went there to get my MEI, I spent more time teaching the instructor, and he spent more time looking at me confused, and I'm a dumb ass.

Great the ones that spent the most came to comair, that means they needed more training. They could have went to Comair academy and spent only 40,000 more, then they could brag that they are from the academy. To the new hires If a capt tells you he went to the Academy call in sick.

291 hours total time? He would be a high timer in a PCL new hire class.

Of course. Experience counts for nothing in this business.

My question:
Does a 250-300 hour pilot with 100 ME have a better aptitude for the new job than a 1200 hour pilot with only 25-50 ME?

Depends on the individuals involved. Hours in a logbook aren't necessarily an indicator of aptitude, attitude or performance.

I got one better than that. Had a guy doing jumpseat IOE the other day with 240 total and he says 100 multi. Well I am sure he embellished and probably only has 85 or so multi. And to think, I got raked over the coals at ASA for only having 4500 total and 3000 multi. Geesh!

V1 cuts? In a seneca? Wow...you really dont know do ya

I guess that's sort of comforting, seeing as I'm starting to apply around with 1180/104. Can't seem to get Xjet to notice though... it just says "screening..." and has done so for the last 3 months.

Actually the class that started on Monday had nobody with less than 1000TT...average was 3000TT with CRJ experience from another airline...granted there were only 7 people in that class

The guy on his fam flight yesterday was from JetU and had 260 hours. I haven't flown with a reserve FO in over six months that had more than 800TT.

Maybe you are talking about an upgrade class?

FWIW, we were told in recurrent that ASA had a newhire with something like 18 hours multi.

I had a new hire (at ASA) on the jumpseat with 18 hrs of multi. I told an IP this during my PC, and the IP said he trained one with 15.

General - You reading this? These airplanes say Delta down the side of them.

If there was ever a time you'd think that managment would just do whatever it took to get the contract settled, it would be now...how long can this go on like this?

I guess it will change when a newly upgraded captain and new hire FO with 221 hours auger a plane in into a daycare center somwhere....
