200 F/As called in sick Sunday, and a ton of flights were cancelled. And Eva is still in charge? Pilots back your F/As!

Time for the pilots to do it this time. ASA Mgmt, get off your AS* and get a contract.

The pilots at ASA are too big a PU$$Y to do anything remotely good for the group as a whole. I think they are almost as bad as Delta pilots....only looking out for number one......would kick their grand ma in the stomach to get a few extra bucks type thing.
I haven't met an ASA pilot with the ball;s to stand up against the man in 2 years. Hell it's even starting to rub off on me.............

Did you see that memo next to the flight attendant office? They have to have documentation for every absence. Even getting into a car wreck, they would have to obtain proof. Ridiculous.

I know of at least one...

HAHA! Total BS. There are only about 950 FA's on the seniority list. That would probably equate to maybe 75% of all FA's scheduled to work on Sunday calling in sick. Nice try.

I heard that 200 number included pilots and FA's. Between the insane pollen in ATL wreaking havoc on peoples allergies (mine included) and the Final Four weekend, I can see that being realistic.

I know that I got nailed to fly two trips from the right seat this weekend because of the lack of F/o's. They basically did not have anyone to cover trips. It will get ever better when the summer schedule comes out next month.
More are leaving every day. These are interesting times.

I am glad I am maxed on block time this month. If they extend me or junior me once, they'll be dropping stuff at the end of the month.

I thought they could not do that anymore. It was changed in the FOM I thought unless it changed again.

So are Chief Pilots and even they have been flying in the right seat.

But they can be THAT short. A dozen requests to swap my inefficient trips with trips having more block hours on the SAME DAYS have been denied due to "Insufficient Coverage." If they are all that short, then one fix would be to schedule us more efficiently - or at least let us schedule ourselves more efficiently.

This is going to get very interesting. People leaving, pilots completely sick of this stuff. Max block will get old soon. Pilots using sick time to their benefit.

I might just leave for a nonflying position.

It is a consideration when you consider:
(1) More money
(2) Better relationship with employer
(3) Long term stability
(4) Ability to transfer skills to new employer at same, or higher, pay
(5) Negotiate your own contract
(6) No risk of losing your medical
(7) No checkrides
(8) Home every night
(9) Better travel benefits (frequent flyer miles)
(10) A retirement (at most places still)
(11) No risk of FAA enforcement action, punitive action from employer, for an honest mistake, or a mistake of a subordinate and if a mistake is made, plenty of time to fix it.
(12) No longer having to explain to everyone you know why you are an "Airline Captain" but can't afford to....
(13) More stable employer, not in bankruptcy, etc....

I'm thinking of getting out also. So far three job offers each in excess of $15,000 more than my current earnings, but I'm holding out for a flying gig. I like flying enough to even enjoy flying for ASA.
