Yes. That's what I mean. A % integration would be more fair. DOH would make people suffer for arbitrary hiring surges at either company, while % integration would keep everyone in roughly the same relative position company-wide.

A full % for the list would not be fair. Look at the combined lists, DOH, then use the %.

You guys all crack me up. SKYW is going to make you reaply for your old job. This is going to be an obliteration of the Union.

When the pilots at SKYW think about voting for a union they are going to look at one of our 20 year captains on the street and say "maybe ALPA isn't the best idea". That is the goal.

Go ahead, however, talk about fairness of integration. Argue % of seniority. Right now you are looking at a staple at best.

Well by looking at the two sides, I would say that management is closer to the Skywest agreement than ALPA is. If you improve the rigs slightly, and extend the 50 seat rate to 18 years, it looks to me like you just about have the Skywest agreement. Am I missing something?

:rolleyes:ASSDriver, you are such a mgmnt "Lackey!" The last offer was no where near skywest. The company has wasted more money in the last four years with these negotiations than if they just gave us what we wanted. It all goes to show you that it is NOT about money or QOL with the company, it is ALL about CONTROL! They can kiss my @ss! I want to be released and park all of these airplanes, THEN lets see how much money they can save!

Crash....Piss Off! You are nothing but flame bait on this issue!

Tomct thanks for the constructive reply. So the SLC 70's are going to SKYW that is now confirmed it will take a little while 6 months or so.

We aren't hiring at all. We have dumped the training department. Has attrition stopped?

SKYW is hiring 70 a month. Why? If you take 17 of our 70's. Plus 19 90 seaters you get 36 aircraft or 360 pilots. Why is SKYW putting on 500 by the end of the year? Why are they forcasting 1500 hires for next year?

Does ASA having 17 70 seaters fleet wide really make good buisness sense? or would it make more sense to move all the 70's to one company?

The SKYW pilots make more than ASA pilots across the board. You can yell about rates all day long but at the end of the year SKYW pilots have more money than ASA pilots. This leads me to believe this is about union busting and not money. Explain to me how this is about our contract?

Ok Tomct you can call me a "flame baiter", "wuss", "company man", "anti union", "union guy"... that doesn't answer the dots I have connected. I would like to hear you explain that all away.

Crash Pad,

No flame, not trying to rile you up or anything, I'm honestly just curious. You preach doom and gloom on every thread here and are real negative about ASA's prospects. Why are you still here then?

Where else to go?

Yes, but if you honestly thought that this place was a dead-end, and that you'd eventually have to start at the bottom of the list at SkyWest anyway, wouldn't you want to get a jump on things?

You know, going on 5 years at ASA, and if Skywest offered second year pay I would seriously consider going, especially WHEN they open their ATL base for 700's/900's. I, however, can't go back to $19/hr and commute to who knows where. But, as I see it, while we sit here and argue over another buck or two per hour on the 700, the thieves are in the kitchen stealing all our stuff!
ASA is on track to go the way of ACA, IMHO. Great regional, standing strong, going bye bye. Somebody show me evidence otherwise. The only part I agree with, is we shouldn't have to do this job for any less than we do now.

Great question. I have a couple of reasons. When I took the job at ASA two years ago I had saved up for first year pay and the wife was working full time. This time I have the savings but the wife is working part time while going to school. If she wasn't in school I would already be gone.

Commute. Chicago is not a bad commute but I hate commuting.

Dice roll. I have been here for two years. I can go to SKYW and upgrade in a year and a half... That would put me at ASA for four years... Way outside chance I could make Captain in that time here.

I could be wrong. ASA could do what the union says: "settle the contract and 1 billion jets show up the next day"

I do have my resume out to some Atlanta based operations.

What it would take for me to move to SKYW: Wife to finish school or SKYW to offer second year pay to FO's coming from ASA.

Hope that clears things up.

ACA tried to make a stand: Gone
Comair tried to make a stand: Greatly reduced and fading
Air Wisconsin: ditto
TSA: ditto
ASA: Unfortunately heading in the same direction.

The SkyWest compensation package is based entirely on what unionized pilots worked/fought/struck/bargained for. You'll win this merger/disintegration with ASA, BUT watchout because you're next. You'll be the big dog on the block and management will put you squarely in their gunsites. As much as people think Republic is the evil empire they at least have one list. Their contract isn't that bad and they have the scope they need to move forward on the next contract. If the SkyWest pilots are smart they'll somehow reach out to the ASA pilots and work something out to get everybody on one list. Give a little now to get more later. One list with a unified pilot group is your only chance. You better get it done fast or 5 years from now the SkyWest you know and love will be a completely different animal.

anybody that thinks skyw is going to even consider a doh/%/whatever integration needs to pull their head out of their colon. that just doesn't make any sense. if you want the work rules, apply. or, tell the asa union that's what you want, and wait another four years.

It appears that you have identified all the dots but you have no commitment to making this airline a career airline. That means that you are just in this for you and to hell with everybody else that's in you way.

Bizjet, you have to lay off the those twenty seven coffees you drink. You're going to stroke out before you get old enough to "think" about retirement.

And by the way, I don't want ASA to be a career airline. I want to upgrade and get out. And dang skippy, I'm in this for me. I'm not going to sell out and scab up but I'm dang sure looking out for my best interest and not someone who wants to make ASA a "CAREER REGIONAL AIRLINE."

Do you really think ASA or SkyWest want a bunch of career pilots? It is not in their interest to keep you around more than a few years after you upgrade. Once you hang around, you cost too much money. Why should they treat you well? Until this whole regional/ outsourcing thing comes to a head, it's the name of the game. It sucks, it's not fun but it's the game you're in. Either deal it or get out.

BTW, wipe your hoochie.

You know what, fu(k these negotiations anymore! Neither side is being reasonable with their expectations. To still be this far apart after 4 fu(king years is utterly rediculous and deplorable! It is painfully obvious that management does NOT want to get a fair contract done, and the pilot group is unreasonable with their expectations! To want retirement and the amount of raises on 700 pay is rediculous. It does not matter how long you guys at $104/hr have not had a raise! Other companies pay $90/hr for your seat and longevity! Maybe you have been overpaid for the past 4 years. I give the company this one. They want dual qual and PBS ---- GIVE IT TO THEM, but make them buy it with scope protection, and the QOL (sched/reserve) that we desparately need. Trade out the retirement for some improvements in 401k. Work out a profit sharing, and get our 50 seat pay in line with the rest of the industry. Lets stop cherry picking the best parts of everyones contracts, and be reasonable with our expectations! And management, when we give you the things you need in good faith, come prepared, bend on your unreasonable proposals and get this done.. Until then, I give up on caring on what is going on. Both sides are fu(king crazy, if you ask me.

News flash Bizjet, most people in this business are out for themselves. Please spare the BS about how all ALPA pilots care about each other. Look around, they are steping all over each other to take each other's job. Brotherhood my a$$.

Why are they hiring 70+a month? Because they are getting ALL of the Mesa flying which is done for United. Mesa has already been put on notice! That is WHY!

Hey, they can take all of the 70's. We don't have that many anyway! Atleast we will have Integrity without "Whoring" for all one rates!

You may have a point with the "union bust", but that is why the Union is trying to get the Mediator to start the negotiations and get the "language protection" that we need. Skywst does not want any part in having a base in ATL. They KNOW the BS that would be in store for them, It won't happen! Plus, it is Delta who decides where aircraft go...NOT skywst. Mgmnt just wants us to think that if we "settle" for a contract, we will get the planes. Did it work for Comair? NO!! Not going to do us any good. We MUST take a stand NOW! If the airplanes are going to skywst anyhow, then we have NOTHING to LOSE now DO WE!

Just because you are a selfserving little weasel doesn't mean all pilots are. The negotiators for the 700 rates took money out of the Captains rates to bring the FO rates up to 60% of Captain rates because the company wanted to only give the FO's 57%. So take your IT'S ALL ABOUT ME ATTITUDE and stick it up your a$$ because you don't have a clue doesn't mean everyone is so ignorant and self serving! Go back and crawl under your rock in the G.O. you worm!!!
