Apparently several F/O's are seeing the sim every FIVE months instead of the new six month cycle. The problem seems to stem from two things; Flight Training Scheduler SW is counting the month training takes place as "month one" instead of the following month. But the real kicker is they are resetting the due month each time training is conducted for F/O's, so if you're grabbed a month early that becomes your new "due month" Let's see, I go for a sim on if 1-30 then on 2-1 I'm already in my second month and potentially back in the sim on 6-1... that's the ticket. With this new math F/O 's stand to see the sim three times in ten months!! Gotta love it.

No relief from crew records either. They are following orders and resetting the the due month with each training session. I guess I'll be proficient.

It's not just FOs in the sim.

A lot of Capt's keep having their 12 month line checks "creep" up on them, getting reset to an earlier month every year.

You would think someone at the GO could add and subtract.

Yep, well a letter went out to everyone saying you could be "junior manned" for a checkride to sit in on another person's sim event. Yippee.

With the clowns we have running this company, they couldn't save money if their life depended on it.

Hey Flythecontract, sweet screen name!

Are you guys AQP? I assume so because of the 6 month cycle. We are going back to AQP soon . Our sim events will be on a 9 month cycle but our recurrent GS will stay the same date each year. Kinda weird.

Check rides

Another thing about the 6 month ride for FO’s is that they all can and most likely will be a check ride. Not a loft or recurrent flight training like the capt. might get. Next month I am going on my 5th check ride in a row! On top of that I’ve only been to RGT once in 2.5 years

I guess I’m proficient in the sim!

Sinca3: If you haven't been to recurrent ground training in 2.5 years, you and your company are in violation of 121.433(c)(1)(i). You can be fined for every flight that you operated after your currency expired. You ASA guys seem unhappy with your company and seem to think that everything is their responsibility. If you are telling the truth, rather than blowing smoke, you had better stop flying.

He can change airplanes and not get to "recurrent" ground. Happened to me, I was here two years before I got a "recurrent" ground school. I don't know if that was the case or not.

It's not that we are unhappy at ASA, we are just extremely frustrated and want to see some progress on our contract. Personally I think its time to crank up the maint. machine and if its broke it don't fly. Of course convincing some of our pansy captains of that is another story. All you have to do is your job and nothing else.

Huh? That should be the policy always, negotiations or not! Don't fly broken airplanes!!!

So is anything being done about these "adjustments" or does the standard Chief Pilot reply of "oh well, what are you gonna do" apply here?

I did my intial in May, so far have had both of my yearly rides in April, and now have my next one on March. I had a LOFT in October.

Just did my 3rd sim event in the last 10 months, due to this "early month" crap. What a waste of money.

ONE MORE DAY OF RETRO PAY BABY!!!!!!

Think of all the extra practice you are getting. On the line, my Captains will NEVER allow me to do a practice single engine ILS......

Hey General, I'm flying down to PBI on a DAL 767 this weekend. Are you flying that trip this weekend?

Sleepy,

No, I am doing San Juan turns this month, with a couple St. Thomas turns also thrown in there for fun. I like turns because I can usually come home each night and make sure I post at least 15 posts on Flightinfo. I am coming up on 4,000 you know..... Have fun and I hope the stews are nice to you. "Good goes around" is our new slogan...... How's the Falcon treating you?

The Falcon is treating me pretty well. I hope this is a nice flight. I have been using AirTran for a while now. This is my first flight on DAL in a few months. I'll let you know how it goes.

4000 posts? Maybe you need a hobby.

Why do I need a hobby when I have friends like you and fins on this board? My wife is ok with it, as long as I "take care of business...." (If you know what I mean) Have a good flight and thanks for helping to pay for my mortgage.

Bye Bye--General Lee
