Fellow pilots,

We would like to update the pilot group on our campaign to elect a team of 4 to the ASA MEC. We have received many comments and questions and would like to answer some of your questions. If you have any questions or comments, please email them to [email protected] .
1. Why are we electing 4 representatives in ATL?
With the closing of the SLC domicile, the ASA MEC was reorganized into a single LEC with 2 Captain representatives and 2 F/O representatives. Currently there are only 2 representatives on the ASA MEC and neither of these 2 representatives are on the ballot.
2. Is this a vote to replace the current negotiating committee or the MEC Chairman?
No. This election will decide who makes up the next ASA MEC. Neither of the two current MEC members are on the ballot. Should the ASA Coalition win, everyone currently involved in negotiations will be invited to continue in the process.
3. How do we vote?
You can either vote by computer or by phone. Attached to this message are the directions on how to vote. Voting closes Dec. 11.

Again, our commitment to you is a contract to vote on within 90 days of taking office. This contract will include job security focusing on preventing further erosion of flying, hourly pay rate increases, trip and duty rigs, per diem increase, improvements to sick leave, improvements to the 401k, scheduling /QOL improvements, commuter clause, long call/short call reserve, and a signing bonus. If we do not achieve this, or if the contract is not ratified by the pilot group, then we will tender our resignations if the majority of pilots wish us to.
In addition, we will be adding a strategic planning element to the contract negotiations to deal with job security. The primary focus of this team will be to stop the erosion of flying and to attempt to reverse it. Without adequate job security, the rest of the contract will become irrelevant over time.
By adding fresh faces and creative new ideas, we believe we can bring these contract negotiations to a conclusion that benefits the pilot group. Your vote is very important, and we thank you for your support.

I'm not one of these folks, but I wish them luck. At least they're trying to do something productive. Instead of bitching and mud slinging behind a screen name.

Funny how this has gone from "if we don't get the contract done in 90 days we will resign to "we'll resign if the majority of the pilots want us to".

What, you going to have a referendum after 90 days? Who's going to pay for it, who's going to organise it?

Don't know any of these clowns, but thanks for putting your names up here again for quick reference so I know who not to vote for!

The Scott hall connection doesn't help either..........................

Actually, if you reference their first letter, it is stated nearly the same. If no contract they will OFFER their resignation unless the pilot group wishes for them to stay.

In regards to being backed by Scott Hall- So what if they are??? Scott Hall is not a policy maker- he is merely the messenger. Do you shoot the messenger??? Scott Hall came over from one defunct airline already. He moved his family down from Chicago to Atlanta. Do you think he wants to be out doing a job search all over again? I'd put my life savings down that he is hoping for a solution that keeps him employed as much as many of our pilots do. Besides, he is but a puppet for CT and BL- what SH wants is irrelivant unless CT and BL buy off on it. Remember, s&%t rolls down hill....

However, with that said- vote how you feel and thanks for voting, anyways. It's sad that only 200 people participated in the last vote.

I can appreciate anyone trying to make a difference, but I haven't heard of any of these people within the coalition except LJ. From what I know about LJ is that she resigned from the MEC way back when because she was in fear of being recalled. She also participated in unauthorized negotiations concerning our current POS contract. I don't think I want that kind of rogue mentality running the show. Not to mention her ties to JB :( Like I said before, the rest of these people have zero ALPA experience.

My vote is going to guys that have been involved through the thick and thin and who are still trying to make a difference. I voted for Tomlin, Utley, Heckard and Schnorr.

That's why they're called the ASA Coalition and not the ASA Pilot's Coalition. Get it?;)

Support the ASA coalition

Whats wrong with supporting what the company wants? LJ will accept management performance plan in lieu of meaninful cost living increases, she will strech the pay scale out to 20 years so it benifits the 20 or so guys including her that have been here for 20 plus years, she can get a signing bonus of a few hundred bucks and we will be able to implement PBS. Then she could possibly come into management again and ensure your intrests are represented.

Their plan is "we'll roll over and have you a contract in 90 days." They also are promising a jean day on Monday's and Friday's.

Those other 3 people that LJ has roped into her little scheme have no idea of what they have gotten themselves into. A fellow pilot that is in R/T with one of the F/O's that is running on her ticket, was asked today some real basic questions about their platform and how they were going to achieve their 90 day goal, and the poor guy doesn't have a clue! HMMMM!

I think we need to think this one out real carefully.

L.J. , quit hiding out in the smoking room and behind Chuck Vier's office door! Come into the crew lounge and face the pilots you want to vote for you. You need to answer some questions about your ALPA experience. You need to answer some questions with more detail about how your plan can work. You need to answer some questions about why you think you deserve our trust. Why are you hiding behind three other innocent pilots?

Why did you get recalled? Why did you go into mangagement? Why did you leave management--sounds like you may not have? Why did you quit the MEC Vice-Chair job? Why should you deserve the trust of this pilot group?

Those are things that need to be answered--or maybe not!

Most of us that have been here for any length of time have been paying attention and don't have short memories!

I vote NO to the CO----alition! Of really ONE!
Vote NO to COalition!

Another vote...against the coalition. Bryan Bowie....now that's funny, almost as funny as Lynn.

Exactly! How is this majority going to be determined? Probably by these 4 getting together in one room and voting. Maybe SH, BL, and CT will have a vote. At least with these 4 running, the vote turn-out should be good to ensure the "lousy-4" have no say in the negotiations.

1. There are no guarantees in negotiations but they seem to be promising these items.

2. Looks like John B will have a new job. Will he do as good as he did as Sec/Treas?

However, with that said- vote how you feel and thanks for voting, anyways. It's sad that only 200 people participated in the last vote.

I'm not disappointed in 200 voting. It was only a nomination vote. All of the "qualified" people that were interested got put on the current ballot right?

I WILL be disappointed if only 200 vote this time, but I don't think that will happen.

Didn't you mean, "My vote is going to the guys who have been brain washed with Bob Arnold's wait for better economy/wait until I retire/etc. through 4 YEARS + of waste and are still trying to make us HIStory!"

Has nothing to due with ALPA.

I agree we need more ALPA experience! Stay the course! With the performance we have had for the last four years and the awesome job they did with the 70 seat displacements... I would re-elect everyone we have now!

Ok. Knock yourself out. Operation "call in sick on the wrong day" is in full effect.

The reason we selected this date is the beginning of Thanksgiving week. We are just thankful to be given the opportunity.:smash:
Your impulsion to my alembic approach is exhausting. If one ponders on the moment that's been chosen. Conclusion is evident. Moreover, your irritant threads are clownish. Its not a single day, its resolution.

WTF are you talking about? I haven't heard of this supposed "sickout" that you mention. I KNOW ALPA is certainly NOT endorsing anything like this. You do what you want, but I strongly suggest no one participate in AsaLossPaywAlpa's attempt to negatively affect the operation at any time.
