SiuDude said:They're pulling people out of the pool based on total time. Many people who interviewed in Nov. already have class dates. The orders from the training department is to train the most experienced pilots first.

Not true. Everyone is rated in the pool based on performance during the interview. The class that started on the 27th has 16 people, 7 of which are interns that had very, very low time. There will be three classes after this and they said the classes will go to 20 per class.
They also said that the bid for CAL flying was in and they were confident about it and they will find out in two weeks.

EMB to CRJ said:Good luck guys with you new hire training, I dont know why people like IFlyFL410 are so down on ASA. As long as you expectations are realistic you will be happy. People seem to forget that they came to work here by choice, knowing full well what the pay rates and life style of a regional pilot were. It is not ASA’s fault that 9/11 came along, that the majors are no longer going let us make millions and millions when they are loosing billions. I know some will say but ASA/Skywest reported 82% increase in profit and that they are doing great. Problem is that ASM and revenue were up 130%, revenue up 130 but profit only up 80 is a loss of margin not a positive thing. Do we need a pay cut I don’t know but a 18% raise just because we can no longer expect to me at a major in the time we planned. After 4 years I am not sitting in the left seat trying to figure how much longer it will be before my class date at delta as was the original plan. I am however flying a jet across the country making 40k a year to work 12 to 15 days a month making the exact amount per hour that I was told I would be making after 4 years when I started. Beats the hell out of instructing. It is a main line job no. Is it perfect no but no job is and in what other kind of job can you make money to sit on you ass all day and fly a 15million dollar toy around with no real boss or office to deal with?

Christ, just because I agreed to the work rules when I started I don't have the right to want an improvement? I think I just threw up in my mouth. All the FA's are smokin hot, the uniforms are really cool, you hardly ever work, and the overnights are a raging party every time. Sure beats the office! Good luck in class guys, it still is a really fun job. I'm not quiting just yet. But realize you deserve better than what your signing on for and don't get too wrapped up in all of the drama at work. Never would have been the job it used to be if pilots all thought like EMB.
