August had 34 more lines then July. Is this normal summer build up or something else? July had 385 and Aug. has 409. This was on the 50 I might add.

We did get two more 50's out of nowhere. How many lines per plane is the average?
Isn't it funny how the doom and gloom of loosing airplanes hsa been rampant here at ASA for months and all the sudden we have new airplanes (three 50 seaters) and our "leadership", I use that term loosely, doesn't mention growth a/c at all to us.
From a mechanic in charge of the pre delivery inspection, these ex Indy Air a/c are from GECAS. GECAS requires Delta to take these a/c in exchange for returned 737's. Something to do with bankruptcy agreements between GECAS and Delta. Delta must keep a certain number of GECAS a/c in service even if it is a CRJ.

Shhhhhhhh...JoeMerchant will hear you and write a long "the sky is falling" response.

VOTED IN FAVOR!

Ramp delays

If you think the ramp sucks now, wait until SLC closes and ALL the flying is out of ATL. More lines, more planes and less rampers. Going to real fun soon.

Yeeha! That oughta be good for an additional 5-6 hours a month overblock waiting to depart, and arrive and park.

Look at the block hours on the "lower lines" and you will see that they are all well into the 80's without integration. Plus more lines, looks like they are gearing up, or trying to contain something. Maybe we can try and clog up Ramp 1/2/6 now also. Rumor has it that our new ops is going to be based out of the old ATL tower. Yep, heard it straight from Hall himself. Thats right, and the sky is falling also. Gotta be competive.

I was under the impression that the old tower is going to be torn down before too long.

Ops tower moving to the old ATCT. What a great rumor. Can't imagine what the lease rates for that would go though.

WTF is ASA doing? Moving, classes, posters, motivation speeches will not solve the problem. Make someone accountable. Have someone's job on the line. Keep firing MGT until you get someone who can fix the problem. Problem is, no one is accountable for the problem.

Or even better - don't fire them - reassign them to the ramp and see how long they last.

Delta use to make every manager work the ramp to gain an appreciation for the front line folks in the operation.

We are (were) over staffed in the GO - we are under staffed on the ramp. Seems to me the problem is solved. Also, we need involuntary junior manning of managers when the ramp is short - just like they can junior man us. Hey that would change things in a hurry.

Yea, I often wonder where the managers are when the ramp is short and the sh1t is hitting the fan! Where is the VP of ground ops? Where is Tutt? Where is LiarBrecque? If this happenend at Southwest or Jetblue, I bet Herb or David N would be out there helping, or at least leading!!! Leadership at ASA is an oxymoron.

That's normal for the late summer. Come fall, we'll be cutting 50-100 lines again, just like we do every year.
