I have read and heard a lot about a 15 March new hire class. I am supposedly still in the pool... but haven't heard anything official. I hear that there will be only 10 per class. Who can honestly say that they are or know somebody in that class.

thank you for your responses!

ASA Interview

Hey!

I have an ASA interview coming up in a few weeks, and looking for an up to date gouge. Any chance you could take a minute and outline the interview and sim. Thank You and Congrats!! Hope the class comes soon!!

Steve

my friend had his interview last mon/tues. First day was a sim eval in the crj sim at FSI. He said it was straight forward, no tricks. Basic air work with a hold and then a raw data ILS. He was given a phone number to call by 7 pm . If he heard his last 4 digits of SS # then he was to return on tuesday. Julie Ellis and Richard Lanktree were doing the interviews that day. My friend said the questions were laid back with no "gotcha" style. Was given approach plate and asked some questions. Other G.A. questions such as flight levels, description of a system in the A/C he flies, etc. He said it was as non-stressful as an interview could be and generally felt comfortable with the process. He was told that there would be class starting in mid-March.
Our DOT numbers are out and we have really improved. Number 3 but beats being on the bottom! And, with the RFP the future is looking a lot brighter.
Good luck with the interview. ASA is a good company and we will build upon our 1998 industry leading contract.

Feb 29th

A good friend of mine interviewed two weeks ago and was given the Feb 29th class. They are taking the most experienced guys first (he is a Delta furloughee) so there is no specific order. Just keep current and keep the faith. We will need 360 (or so) new hires in the next year and a half (if we really get the new RJ's).;)

Sorry! March 29th:eek:

Do you mean March 29th by chance? There's a March 15th class and an April 12th (which would possibly be moved to March 29). When did (s)he hear?

And though they are looking to pull in the experienced people first, they said they will not fill a class entirely that way. It should be a mix of backgrounds.

Thanks

Tim,

That is good to hear, and I am sure our furloughs feel fortunate to have an opportunity to fly for ASA. Make sure you tell Julie Ellis
"Thank you" from the Delta pilots---both flying and not.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes: ;)

I also heard that they assign classes based on age. Would that mean it is better to be older or younger?

I think what you mean is that they award seniority in class based on age. The older you are, the better the number. Atfer all, they figure the young guys will more than make up for it in time and the older guys need all the help they can get since they will have fewer years in the business. This is pretty common throughout the industry.

swaayze

JE called him and wanted to get some paper work expidited in order to get a 29 Mar class going. I really wasn't aware of a 12 Apr class, but that will probably go to. Don't know what your definition of (mixed backgrounds) is, but after talking to JE, she implied most experienced. Now, we can't take all Delta furloughed guys because of possible recalls, so that might be what "they" are talking about. Just stay by the phone, you will get the call. good luck.

General.
You guys should send her a thank you or have one of your big wigs go over and tell her thanks. She was VERY receptive when I hand carried his resume in to her and sat down for a few minuites to ensure she knew he was a good guy. She placed her John Hanckock on the LOR and he was one of the first to get called and hired. I dont think it was just because of me, I think she really is compasionate for the Delta furloughees. I think if I went in there to say thanks from the Delta guys, it may not come off the way you intend it to. But PM me and I will do whatever you need me to. Tim.
