Is anyone else keeping up with Mr. Gus Mcleod's attempt to circumnavigate the world from pole to pole. I was in Baltimore airport 2 years ago and had the pleasure of meeting him. He is an honorary Tuskegee Airman. He is the first man to go to the North Pole in an open cockpit airplane. This new venture is planned for 2 months. He has world wide support. His longest leg which he is on now as I am typing is 27 hours long. He is doing it in a single engine aircraft and attemtping the crossing of the Drake Passage. This is very very tough flying if you know anything about the Drake Passage. This is a wild attempt from my viewpoint.
If interested look at this site
www.gusmcleod.com and check him out.

That carbon fiber modified Velocity he is flying is a great smuggling plane. I wonder what he is doing on his legs through South America.:p

Got to be able to pay for the trip some how. Picking up odd jobs along the way harkens to the days of barn storming. ;)
