Getting a student to solo is a big step. Remember you are putting your certificates on the line. When you endorse someone to solo you are saying that he/she is able to handle themselves to conduct a safe flight. 61.93(c)(2) and the other endorsements are just to a way for the FAA to protect themselves if something goes wrong. A great quote I heard from another instructor about soloing a student for the first time or a x-country was, "Either I'm going to have a beer or I'm going to have a beer."
