That's not true. The mediator didn't force the two sides back to the table. Our MEC and managment both wrote the mediator and asked for more sessions to get is done.

Uh. No we did not. The MEC did not write the mediator. That is not how the process works.

Called, wrote, whatever.......Bob made it clear to the NMB and the company how bad it would be to "park" us and that the open issues would not change when we came back to the table. It was my understanding that the MEC said we were willing to set more dates and the company contacted the NMB as well. Mainly because there was progress made at those last sessions before the break.

Doesn't really matter cause there still seems to be a disconnect between top managment and the negotiators in getting the contract done. Unless, there idea of getting the contract done is for us to take the concessionary contract they put forward. And we all know how that went over.

Both sides might have a lot of time too get the contract done 10 days from now.

I would rather have more job security with an average contract, then less security and the best contract. You guys at ACA, along with Comair, Air Whisky, Alleghany, and Piedmont had better contracts. In the end, it resulted in shrinking and/or elimination. What good is the best contract if you just watch your flying go the lower bidders?

Yeah, that is a problem, but it isn't a reason to join the rush to the bottom. Especially since ASA is already apparently one of the lowest cost airlines around .

A lot of progress has been made in stopping the slip-slide down. I want this to be a decent profession in which even an FO can make a decent living, be respected, and not spend 3/4 of his life on the road. I'm willing to continue to negotiate for another 3 years rather than rush to a concessionary contract just to get things settled and protect "our" flying.

If the company wants to get more code shares, they need to settle the contract. If they want to settle the contract, they need to be prepared to pay.

I'm almost to the point that I'd vote "no" on the first TA no matter how good it is, just to send a message to management.
