federal law requires them to talk the last four or five days prior to.....they started monday.........update.....company said they were contracting out with other carriers to fly our routes.........whatever! Let em, it will cost so much Franke will have to get a loan...........oh by the way, which carrier? Union has contacted just about every airline out there, everyone of them has pledged not to fly spirit routes........PLUS, what airline wants to be associated this ****************************** bag of a airline anyhow.

Even though Sprit only has 31 aircraft, this is a battle for the entire US airline industry. If they succeed with their union busting plans, the landscape of professional pilots will be decimated....Sprit could have 150 aircraft in a few years and try competing with the contract they want. Look how almost everyone followed with charging of bags....who started that in this country....Sprit...

Falcon Air Express in Miami. Got a buddy from Midwest there. He says they're repositioning airplanes into South Florida for "contigency flying." Sure smells like a rat. Hope the Spirit MEC has contacted them. Not many people have ever heard of them.

Spirit negotiators walked out of negotiations (with the NMB in DC) today after reviewing the ALPA proposed pay rates.

If everything on the pilot boards is true, then the Spirit pilots are out of options. Management is forcing this strike, not the pilots. The pilot's only other choice is to capitulate, and suffer even worse at the hands of truly rotten management.

Good luck to all the Spirit pilots.

An entire airline can be replaced with cheaper labor. It happened to Midwest very recently.

It's really up to the investment firms, they're willing to lose a week or two worth of revenue to break the will of the pilots. I think they are misreading the level of anger of all commercial pilots as well as the middle class. I know I'm tired of giving up pay and bennies so a few fat cats can enrich themselves. I know it's more than pay, it's about being powerless against someone who continues to take advantage of you. This is where the burn it down / f it comes from.
I feel the same at UPS, it's not about money, it's the fact they furloughed when they didn't have to. They are just showing us they have power over us, demoralizing us for the next contract, reducing our expectations for the next contract.
There's a revolt afoot and it about your pride and soul not money.

Midwest pilots let it happen, crawl back under ur rock management puke.

Midwest pilots jumped in bed with management when Airtran came calling.
Then they got f'ed. They had options but instead flew until they closed the doors.

Don't worry the CEO got his bonus...

Some idiot on airliners.net has said management dropped the whole longevity based on hours flown garbage. Is that true?

Best of luck to you guys!

That place is insane. How do they have 230 posts and 15000 views for a Spirit thread? Are the talking about the potential new liveries and designer A320 seats that spirit might be getting?

That site is full of pilot haters. It's fun to go there and ruffle feathers every once and a while.

Is the strike starting at midnight tonight (technically saturday)?. Or is it tomorrow at midnight? How is this going to play down with people on overnights and such?

Hopefully any striking Spirit pilot needing a ride home from an overnight would have a seat in first on the airline he jumpseats on.

got an email from our SWA union...SWA jumpseat is still open for 30 days following the strike for Spirit pilots. you are all welcome on board.

Could it be a virtual lockout a la Mesaba?
