The arbitrator today released his statement in the case between Delta and the Delta pilots who were furloughed with the No Furlough Clause in their contract. Apparently the furloughs were capped at 1060 (the original agreement was up to 1400). and a recall schedule will begin when Pax levels return to pre-9-11 levels (and that includes the help from all of the RJ flying). The training rate will be at a "Normal training rate" (??), so they will NOT be brought back all at once. Some have speculated that Delta could call another FM with the War Emergency clause portion of the agreement, but has not chosen to do so---yet. This may be do to the increase in CRAF flying, large amount of early retirements lately due to the USAir pension problems, or possibility of lack of crews due to the military call ups for reserves.
Regardless, this is good news for all of the furloughs and the pilots that were due to be furloughed soon. Let's hope this war is a short one and the economy eventually recovers.
