Applications??

I was wondering just for future reference if you should have your applications to the airlines typed. I know it would look better typed but often there would not be enough room in a given box to type the information. If you are typing your applications are you guys/girls doing it on your own or having it done by a service? who? thanks

Just got a job with an airline, and my application was hand written. But, I have very very very neat printing

I don't think it matters too much just so long as it's neat and complete

First off, read the directions for completing applications carefully. If the application says "print" it means "print." Not "typed." In other words, the company wants you to hand-print the application. Any job application, and especially a pilot application, is a form of written exam. The interview process begins with your app. You are being tested on organization, thoroughness, and, last but not least, your ability to follow directions.

I speak from experience. Years ago I completed an app for BizEx. Good and thorough guy that I am, I typed the application. The directions said to "print." Not "print or type." I looked at my copy of my app long after I sent it, and, to my horror, I saw where it said to "print." So, in my enthusiasm to provide a quality product, I might have screwed myself out of an opportunity. Take the directions at their plain meaning.

I always typed my apps myself. The trick to producing clean copy is to make copy(ies) of the application form and use the copy to practice typing into the boxes until you get it looking right. Then take that final draft and type it on the actual application in final form.

There may be services that have scanned forms from airlines and can word-process them. My only comment is one would commit a major faux pax if you submitted an old form to a company!
