This Morning on City Desk (NBC 5 News Chicago). Phil Boyer is quoted as saying that AOPA has received more member response regarding Meigs than any other single issue including the grounding of aircraft after 9/11!

Thank you for your continued support!

Stand-by for new and even BIGGER developments to this story. We also will soon be needing your help BIG TIME!

We are going to fight like hell, because we owe it to you!

merikeyegro...

...it had to happen sooner or later.

We agree on something. :D

If you are not a member of AOPA already, now is the time to join and be heard.

From what I've read to date, it seems Daley had the legal right to close Meigs, HOWEVER I hope AOPA and the like find that legal loophole that all lawyers seem to come across and nail this *** to the wall!

In related news, according to AvWeb this morning, the closing of Meigs is having a ripple effect on ORD operations. The FAA has now canceled all LAHSO operations there in anticipation of increased GA traffic. Hopefully this will draw ALPA and others into the fray!

And for those who might think this is just a "Meigs" problem, you can take your bet to Vegas that other communities are reviewing his action in efforts to close other GA airports in their communities.

Way to go Mr. [explative deleted] Mayor!

While we all don't agree on politics or policy, this is one issue I think we need to STAND AND BE HEARD!

I know that in response there has been kind of a boycott Chicago, stay away from the other airports, make them pay current going on. While I agree fully that Meigs should be re-opened, I wonder if this tactic will backfire somewhat. I wonder if it would be better to flood ORD with GA aircraft to the point that there is a flow program in place at all times. I think that would get more attention.
Just a crazy thought, may not be the answer either.
