I've been getting stuff from AOPA in the mail lately about their Life Insurance plans that they offer. I was just wondering if anyone on this board has this life insurance or any other type of life insurance for pilots. Do you think the AOPA policy is any good or worth it? If it makes any difference, i'm a 135 charter pilot with hopes of eventually moving on to the regionals and then the majors. Do any of the airlines offer their own life insurance policies?

Thanks

Illini,

I believe AOPA life insurance is actually Minnesota Life. They are are top notch company and the rates are comporable to everyone else. There is a AOPA/Minnesota Life rep. at the company in MN and they know all about pilots. Becareful with life insurance. You need to be covered when you are flying. A lot of policies exclude aviation or if they cover it they require an aviation rider for additional fee. Just make sure you are covered for any and all types of flying you plan on doing. Also if you plan on skydiving or other dangerous activity go get good amount of life insurance NOW. After you do some of those fun things some companies avoid you like the plauge. Get the insurance first then go have fun. I have a $750,000 20 year level term with AOPA - Minnesota Life and it is about $850 per year and I got it at age 37. You young bucks will definately get better milage. No I don't work there but I have been treated well by them and do recommend them.
