I miss MBNA! Bank of America is terrible! Lots of junk mail, lowsy website, horrible service. I'm canceling my card.

Please Email AOPA and complain.

AOPA's Response

Thanks for sharing your concerns about the AOPA credit card program through Bank
of America. I'm going to pass your comments along to the program manager at AOPA
who meets with representatives from BOA regularly so they can also be aware of
your comments.

While I understand your frustration with Bank of America on this issue, I hope
you'll continue to use the card. The revenue that AOPA receives through your
support of this program is extremely important to protecting your right to fly
and fighting against user fees. And it allows us to provide more support to you
through new services and programs and keep membership dues down. So ironically,
if members stop using the card, AOPA and our members are the ones who will
suffer the most.

AOPA is working with a team from Bank of America to make improvements. I have
sent a request to Bank of America to remove you from the solicitation list.

We appreciate your loyalty and support. But most of all we appreciate the fact
that you cared enough to let us know about your concerns rather than just
walking away dissatisfied. If you have any other questions or concerns, please
let us know.

Bank of America Fails AOPA Members Again

Bank of America told thousands of its cardholders in recent weeks--even those with good payment histories--that they faced a rate hike from 9% to as high as 28% if they didn't pay off their balances at the old rate and stop using their cards. The bank, the largest credit card issuer, since its 2006 acquisition of MBNA, says it's all part of its "periodic" review of customer credit risk.
Consumer advocates cried foul. It's one thing for card companies to raise rates on customers who are behind in their payments or whose credit scores decline greatly, but quite another for on-time customers with no apparent black marks against them to be put in the higher-rate camp.

Boa Sucks!

I had my AOPA card and yes, while I had some bad marks over last summer, since the new job I had been making on-time payments for about 6 months, infact, I was giving more than the minimum payment. Well, the interest rate was killing me so I called them and asked what they could do to help me with that (you know, all the experts tell you to call the credit card companies to get them to lower your rate, blah blah blah). Well, they said that I couldn't talk to a manager, that the manager would contact me the next week (it was a Friday). Well, the manager didn't call me. About 4 weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from BOA saying that they had reviewed my accound and they were going to close it, oh, and not only that they were going to raise my interest rate. So ******************** them, I managed to get a loan (with a reeeeaaaallly nice interest rate) and paid the whole thing off. Sure, BOA may not be breaking any laws, but their buisness practices are predatory at best and they do nothing to help you. I personally think AOPA would be better served if they were not associated with BOA/MBNA or whatever.
