Anywhere Map

Does anyone have the Anywhere Map System. Im looking to buy a new system, after I sell my Garmin 196. I know I would get the weather and maybe the pocket plates. How does the system work? Are the pocket plates easy to use on a smaller screen? Anyother systems out there that I should look at?

Thanks for the help Tony

I might know someone who would like that Garmin. Unless you have sold it already.

I would also like to know anyone who has used the Anywhere Map and what PDA they used.

Cheers in advance to both,

I have one go here

Here is a forum for awm. http://forum.controlvision.com/

I really like the unit it . I personally like the stability of paper plates( they do not spntaneously reboot or have any chance of a computer freeze up at an inopertune time ). I use my AWM VFR ( IFR for situational awareness only). It has a backup turn coordinator and virtual localozer /ils feature which is handy but strictly situational awareness . You can spend big bucks for an attitude indicator feature from AWM But I have a standby vacuum systenm in my plane in case of pump failure a lot cheaper insurance The uniot has weather capability but i believe there is a 15 minute lag in the weather updating hey are going through some growing pains but is still an awesome unit any ? pm me vavso

I have been using AWM for a number of years and am pretty happy with it. It is robust for the price and the updates/improvements/added features are included with the yearly database subscription.

I've been using AWM for about a year now and can't praise it enough! I'm using AWM on a Dell Axim X5 with Pharos CF-GPS and a 256mb SD card with no problems. I ran into a few problems when I purchased PocketPlates regarding storage, but nothing that a little tweaking wouldn't fix. I've never lost a GPS signal nor had a PDA crash midflight with both AWM and PP running at the same time. The only bad thing about the Dell is the inability to add the AnyWhere Weather feature. I've read on the Control Vision forum that some Axim (X5) users were able to get it working, but I don't do enough long X-C's to justify the cost of upgrading hardware and software purely for weather. The situational awareness on the PP software is fairly descent. What do you expect on a 4" screen?! I'm looking into CV's new Raven or even a tablet PC for a bigger screen and more options (It runs Windows XP). If you decide to go ahead with the whole setup, I would definitely look into a Bluetooth setup purely for a cleaner cockpit as opposed to cables running all over the place.

PM me if you have any further questions-

I have been using Anywheremap since 2000.

I have two Anywheremap systems that I use when ferrying aircraft all over the world, one is running on an Ipac 3650 with the wired connection to power and the antenna.

The other is running on an Ipac 2210 ant a Socket bluetooth antenna.

Awsome stuff and I am very, very happy with them.

I also still use a Lowrance Airmap 300, now that is real redundency!
