What ever the hell it was.... was it a homebuilt?

go back and read the string.

The aircraft has been identified. It is not a homebuilt

I even suggested that you go to airliners.net and search for it.

Do you want me to look it up for you?

The CH-46 landing on the back of the boat is hard one to watch also.

Hey Calvin,

Chill out... as the thread continues, it is still called a homebuilt. That was what I was asking.

The Osprey crash, and Russian SAR demo make me cringe.

Yup, it is/was indeed a Partenavia.

It is an Italian fixed gear twin that comes in many flavors....I seem to remember a turboprop version as well.

Back in the 80s I tried to convince my boss to buy one for dirtstrip operations:
Made more sense than the Beech Duchess and C-402s we were using at the time.
Fixed gear and the props way above the gravel made more sense.

Aye, the video, pretty powerfull stuff...Many guys, and perhaps gals met their maker on that one.:(

Yes it's a Partnavia....not a Twin Otter...

Yes it was his wife was the Narator.

There were FAA Officials there, and I read that they were ready to hand out a pretty stiff violation.

I'll agree that it's a Partenavia. It only has three side windows (1 large and 2 small just like a P68), so there is no way it is a Twin Otter.

So what happens now that someone has posted that it is a Twotter, when it is clearly be shown to be something else, and also posted a link to a company that operates Twotters making it look like they fly unsafe aircraft?

Ooo I feel a law suit around the corner.

Nice!

I use to work for the NTSB. I knew the cat that was the IIC for that accident. I think I have it on VHS somewhere around the house. Did the video clip you guys watched show the filming inside the A/C about an hour before the accident? I think a news anchor was onboard getting a "demo" flight.

what a bum

NTSB Identification: FTW83FA424 .
The docket is stored on NTSB microfiche number 21677.
14 CFR Part 91: General Aviation
Accident occurred Sunday, September 11, 1983 in PLAINVIEW, TX
Aircraft: PARTENAVIA P68C, registration: N29561
Injuries: 1 Fatal.

THE PLT WAS EXECUTING A HIGH SPEED PASS OVER THE RWY AT ABOUT 250 FT AGL. THE PLT THEN BEGAN A RAPID PULL-UP & BOTH WINGS SEPARATED JUST OUTBOARD OF THE ENG NACELLES. RECONSTRUCTION OF THE SEQUENCE FROM A VIDEOTAPE REVEALED THAT THE ACFT'S SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE WING SEPARATIONS WAS 220 KTS. VNE FOR THE ACFT IS 193 KTS. IT WAS CALCULATED THAT, AT 220 KTS & AN 8 DEG NOSE-UP PITCH, THE 'G' LOAD AT THE TIME OF THE WING SEPARATIONS WOULD HAVE BEEN 8.3 G'S.
The National Transportation Safety Board determines the probable cause(s) of this accident as follows:

IN-FLIGHT PLANNING/DECISION..IMPROPER..PILOT IN COMMAND
OVERCONFIDENCE IN AIRCRAFT'S ABILITY..PILOT IN COMMAND
AIRSPEED..EXCEEDED..PILOT IN COMMAND
WING..OVERLOAD
DESIGN STRESS LIMITS OF AIRCRAFT..EXCEEDED..PILOT IN COMMAND

Contributing Factors
WING..FAILURE,TOTAL
WING..SEPARATION

OK cow, I'm chilled.

No, a Partenavia is not a homebuilt.

However, I doubt that you will take my word for it, so why not go ahead and google the name for yourself?

Calvin...

You sure are a prick for someone who is still playing Zork.

Grow up man- I had an honest question, and you responded like a cock.

I'm plotting my revenge on Zork, not playing Zork.

I'm a cock, and yet you keep responding.

Seriously, Sorry to have been a cock. But I had already idented the aircraft in question and I assumed that anyone with further interest would go look for themselves.

When I'm Calvin, I tend to be a bit moody. Hobbes is much better behaved.
