Hi all - been furloughed for a few years and getting back into flying. I'm current in SEL but would like to get back into turbo props or jets. Please PM if you have any leads or if I can be of service. Please no flames or nonsense PM's - No I don't wash planes or serve drinks . I do however not mind pulling gear and working radios for a low daily rate.

Thanks - Tim.

How 'bout if I don't mind pulling gear on a 727 for a low daily rate - just as long as they put me on the seniority list above you.

Is that any different than what you're asking? I don't think so.

Good point guys...As for the drink I was referring to being put in a f/a's uniform and serving in the back. I have no problem mixing drink for flights with out f/a's. I think I will have to stay fast on my washing. I didn't plenty of that over 15 years ago. I'd gladly make the phone call and schedule the aircraft washers however. Sorry for typing before thinking.

damn, i wash the plane i fly all the time! after every flight.... You may have to bend that rule if you want to get a corporate job, especially if you are the fo.

Cavok - you just might be right. I didn't think any flight crews were washing planes anymore. Bummer it's not Summer!!!!

Now we're talking. Serving the PAX might be part of the deal, and there is no shame in doing so. You learn a lot from spending some timein the back. Also, you get some face time that might come in handy when Mr. Gotbucks is writing the annual bonus checks. He might get a chance to get to know you and see that you are a stand-up guy. These corporate Chief Pilots can be strange, so keep an open mind, and you might have to wash planes or something like that, but just work hard, suck it up and do it, get all the training and experience you can, then go find you a real job with out all the junk attached. Personally, I like the extra duties, but I have no kids or dependents like a wife, so it's easy for me to be away keeping busy with extra tasks. Even though you need to get your foot in the door somewhere, don't sell yourself short by taking a minimal wage. You might not have 3 types and 6K hours of jet time, but you are trainable and in most cases, you are required to be there, so make sure you are putting some decent coin in your pocket. Make sure you get typed if they send you to school. An SIC check just because you are not a CAPTAIN is nothing more that then CP not wanting you to be able to take over his job if the boss fires him one day. These guys train the boss to think nobody but he is able to fly the plane but them, so they boss thinks he is stuck with these egotistcal stick hogs. Good luck to you, and if I see any CALI area jobs, I'll pass them along.

Oh and the boots......make sure your on an airplane that has boots! Endless hours of fun courtesy of BF Goodrich Shineprep! Love that ammonia smelling crap!

Guys ------ should I tell him about the bright work?

very funny!!!

It is amazing how good you can make the plane look with just an hour of spot cleaning. I never use a hose on the plane. but its a cj2 so its not too much plane to clean

This brings up an interesting point. We all have wanted to fly the biggest, fastest, and highest flying iron. But the down side would be cleaning this monster, in and out! Just my luck would be to fall from some 20-foot ladder and be out of a job with no insurance since I was hired as a contract pilot! The final kicker might be the owner asking you to pay back a training contract since you are not flying. OUCH!

If you're up on a 20 foot ladder cleaning the airplane, you're working for the wrong operator! At least get one of those safety harness things that hooks to the roof of the hangar! LOL

Nothing wrong with wiping down the engines on a Learjet or a Citation, or doing a quick vacuum in the cabin, but leave the hard stuff for the pros!

Paco - been there done that. Thanks but no thanks. I'm not in the relocating mindset currently and there are no regionals in my area. They would also require a seniority resignation. I'll pass for now - thanks for the thought though!

Dude - I agree w/ you. Wiping down and some polishing is ok. Some previous posting made it sound like some/most corporate jobs required washing following every flight. I do clean up (wipe down/vacuum) currently but I was hoping to find a corp job that didn't have me swapping out of uniform into board shorts with the power sprayer following a Cabo turn. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a fractional job in the near future!

Thanks again everyone for your thoughs and leads!!
