Anyone live near FXE?

I am considering moving to the FXE area, and was wondering where there is a good place to live for fairly cheap, and what areas to stay away from. I'd like to be within 30 min of FXE.

I used to live near in Plantation for a couple of years, it aint cheap but it's a good place. Took me about 20 minutes to drive to the airport.

Alot of Instructors lived in appartments in the airports vicinity, around commercial Blvd. It seemed an OK place, and I heard it wasnt expensive. If you are going to fly with a local school in FXE I am sure the other instructors will love to help you out.

FXE is a great airport to fly from, one of the busies in the nation, look out for traffic though

I live between FXE and FLL.

The general rule is that it is more expensive to live East of I-95.
The further West ya are, the cheaper it gets...And more bugs and less breeze.
The above is a not always true, ya may be able to find a cheap place East of 95, but that would be a run down neigborhood so ya get mroe bang for the bucks out West, but further away from the bikini babes on the beach.

I lived out in Weston, not real cheap, but a great area, right near Sawgrass Mills/Sunrise with lots of stuff to do...20-30 minutes to FXE. And real easy access via I-75 to Pembroke Pines and down to Miami. Much less congested than the I-95 corridor.

Oh, and in Weston, residents got to play Bonaventure's 36 holes for greatly reduced rates. I dunno if you are a golfer, but a great course nonetheless.

I live in Coral springs, Nice area but not cheap not to expensive like Weston.

Depends on how much you want to spend on rent per month around FXE is ok for the most part, its not near any run down areas.

Try Tamarac for rentals, it's pretty cheap and too bad an area. Between 5-1 min from FXE.

Where to stay away from? Lauderhill, anywhere on Sunrise Blvd between turnpike and US1. Just grab a car and drive around, you'll get the feel right away, and like the others said, neighborhoods right around FXE ain't too bad, although the area is mostly industrial. (and do stay away from 31st street, very run down)
