I've seen this picture posted in several maintenance hangars and FBO's before. I've heard a couple stories to go with it... one involving a Caravan and another one involving a 172 or something similar.
Does anyone know the real story behind this picture???
I don't know the story behind the pic, but I'm guessing the insurance company wrote that one off as totalled. Ya think?
Looks similar to a pic I've seen of a spam-can that was sliced up with a chainsaw... the planes' owner was doing some married woman, and the husband found out. What a way to get revenge.
"The real story behind the picture is that a pilot was hand-cranking his Piper without the park brake on, when the engine fired without anyone sitting in the cockpit to operate the brakes the plane went on a destructive rampage around the hangar, taking out four University of South Australia planes including slicing up the fuselage of the Piper Seminole in this picture.
The Internet myth goes something along the lines of an angry husband in Colorado (where else but the USA) chopped this plane up with a chainsaw because his wife joined the mile-high club in it with another pilot. Well, that's one internet myth debunked."
Where i work we had a line guy try to commit suicide by starting up an airplane, full throttle, and into a fuel truck. Thats what the fuel truck looked like in a small section in the back.
PS. He was unsucessful in his attempt, and made maters worse by being fired.
saw this pic a few years ago....the text along with the pic at the time was that the guys ex wife chopped it up with a chainsaw....sounds kinda **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ed up but thats what i heard.

The real story is a C-172 parked with a running engine was accidentally pushed to full throttle, breaks where not set and hence moved forward and the plane in front chopped up.

If the guy really caught his wife joining the mile high
club in the plane, don't you think that ANY pilot would

Did this guy get arrested? Sued? Treatment? Sounds like a bizarre incident. Was the line guy working on ratings or holding any pilot certificates at the time? He sure took a big gamble at doing anything from just damaging vehicles, to killing innocent bystanders or rescuers. Too many variables...sounds like the guy was looking for attention.
I know of kid, that because he was told by his parents that he couldn't go to a concert with some friends, went up to his room and stripped the brake or gear shift cable off his bike. He then fashioned one end into a snare and then took the connector end and put it over the top of his bedroom door and closed it, as way to support his weight. Hung himself to death in this contraption, by just letting himself down.

Yes this guy had about 5 hours of flight training time. This isnt a very big airport and luckily no one was around outside near the truck and the thing didnt explode. He wasnt arrested b/c it was until later we found out it was a suicide attempt, his excuse was he was just trying to move the airplane to a new spot. haha riiiight, so you went and got the keys and went full throttle into a fuel truck!
What I never could understand is if this guy would have only lined up on a taxiway or something he could have taken off and then just nose dived it. Guess he only had the lessons for startup!
