I remember there was a single engine piston that had like a 400hp engine, 4 seater, looked kinda like a cherokee. I'm pretty sure they don't make them anymore and I have seen race packages for them so I think they are popular for that. I can't remember the name of them and wanted to read about them more. Great looking planes as I remember. Any ideas?

Comanche 400. Same as the ordinary Comanche, except with a 400 HP IO-720 eight cylinder Lycomming. They built about 140 or so of them in 1964-65, I think.

52 large to overhaul the sucker, so better be made of money.

Commanche 400 would be my guess also.

Didn't the Bellanca Viking also have the same hp engine?

It carries a boat load of gas too. If I remember from my line-guy days, 4 tanks on each wing, I think 72 gallons per side.

Heyas Lear,

The book says 20-22GPH at %75 power gives you around 183 knots or so.

No doubt a fun ride if you can afford it....
