Anyone know Mike DeSalvo from VNY?

He was my CFII/MEI back in the day and I can't seem to get ahold of him. Doing a search I see a pilot with the same name crashed a G-IV in HOU. After reading the report it sure doesn't sound like something he would do. Anyone have anything to add or report?

I don't know if it's the same Mike DeSalvo as you knew, but there was a M.D. that was killed in the Houston wreck. They were flying into pick up Bush senior. I had met Mike a few years ago when he was doing some contract work w/ a local charter company in CLT. Seemed like a nice and very experienced pilot. I knew he had alot of G- time. I was also surprised about the wreck.

Maybe try a search of the FAA database and see if there is a Mike D. out in VNY. Good luck. Hope HOU wasn't your friend.TC

Saw Mike a few months before the crash. He was very excited about his new life in DAL. Many of us in VNY were surprised when we read the report, you are right, it doesn't sound like something he would do.

Yes, unfortunately that was Mike D. in the HOU crash.

Thanks for your replies - I just would have never guessed that that would have been Mike. He was the guy that seemed to always know what was up. But then again that was 18 years ago. Wow...just speechless.

Anyone know how his family is? I understand he was recently remarried.
