I know it would suck to work at the best regional in the industry. People are leaving because AWAC used to be west coast and now is east coast. The people who are leaving leave becuse commuting from DEN to PHL is near impossible and they represent a major portion of our pilots.

Put my stuff in a few weeks ago. Just wondering if anyone has had an interview in the past week or so.
Thanks
I put my stuff in 3 weeks ago, havent heard back......I hear you need some internal reccomendations to get an interview right now.

classes right now are for the attrition from early retirement, people leaving and training washouts....they aren't as big as they have been in the past few months but we still seem to be having 2 classes a month....and keep your fingers crossed, I didn't hear from them for a month when I turned my stuff in....

Current figures being banded around the training dept are 8 -10 fo's a month.

Like the post above stated, we're losing Captains because they were based in ORD and DEN which used to be ok commmutes and now they're faced with the nightmare commute to PHL, DCA and ORF.

At some point we're going to reach a status-quo with the people that are here who either accept the current bases or knew these were our bases when they joined, so the attrition will slow right down. Personally I think it's going to be about another 12 months for that to happen.

To get an interview you're pretty much going to need a rec from a current pilot and preferably one who's flown with you. I'm pretty sure we'll also start going back to the days when you had to have previous 121 or turbine experience.

Of course that could all change in an instant when we open a Vegas base and get 90 seaters!! (JOKE)

Turned my stuff in when they started taking apps about 3 weeks ago or so. Haven't heard a thing, other than the confirmation email saying they got my stuff. I don't know anyone there, so I'll be surprised if I hear back. Then again, I have previous 121 time, so who knows. Honestly though, the thought of being based in DCA scares the **** outta me on FO pay, or even senior captain pay for that matter.

Wouldn't worry too much about DCA. It seems recently that has been the most senior base for new-hire F/Os. Although that could have something to do with the large number of Independence Air guys we have hired, many of whom are already settled in the DC area. Honestly though, none of the bases are cheap.

There are three displaced FLYI pilots there and another few who were furlouged long beofre FLYI became DIE- I. I chose PHL because it was an easier commute for me and the quickest place to get me off RSV.

No worries DCA is kinda senior, but i live here and its not that bad. living in PHL now that should scare you. Only like 50 murders at the airport last week. J/K its not that bad. I change bases about every 2 months to keep scheduling guessing. Living in DCA its easy to commute to any of the other bases by car/plane/train.

In response to the attrition stopping in 12 months, I hope some good jobs will be availabe by then and give a little more motivation to get movin.

I know of a few PHL FOs that live on the Jersey Shore, they say it takes about an hour to get to the airport even in traffic but isn't terribly pricy. The rural part we fly over when landing 35 looks really nice to me, but I'd hate to even hazard a guess what real estate costs there.

Va Beach is nice but the ridiculous cost of real estate in Hampton Roads has me looking forward to my one leg, 10 flights a day commute to PHL.

And for the hopefuls, it took 4 updates over 3 months, faxed & emailed each update, to get a call for an interview...and I didn't know anybody there either. Keep updating and good luck!

Hey Boiler...if I have a couple of internal recommendations...at least one for sure, should I send my stuff to them...or email my resume and just have them recommend internally? How do you like it there so far...i'm assuming you are at AWAC by your comments. Thanks.

Yeah I'm at AWAC.

I would say have each of your friends send your resume into Recruiting, as well as you email/fax it in yourself. I've sent a couple friends' resume in this way, after they submitted it themselves. I do know they are looking for pilots to have flown at least some with the people they are recommending.

It took repetition for me to get hired late last year...;)
