Wondering if anyone has any current interviews with CX? Anyone else get an app? All info grafefully accepted.....Clip

S2B--Are they still basing over here? Do you know the starting pay? Thanks in advance.TC

All Second Officers on the passenger fleet are based in Hong Kong. Direct entry First Officers for freighter aircraft are based in numerous locations, the United States is one of them.

Cathay Pacific

I sent my resume in via snail mail and email on 7 July and received an application on 7 August.

What about that ALPA Intl ban on employment at Cathay - I haven't heard of that being lifted.

You might think - "Oh, I don't care what ALPA or other pilots think of me going to Cathay." But your co-workers will hate you as well - if not, just do some research on the 49ers (and I'm not talking about the San Francisco 49ers).

If ALPA has lifted their concerns with Cathay - I apologize, but I really don't believe they have. Check out Pprune for more info, as well as ALPA magazie from about 1.5yrs ago that had the Cathay story on the front page.

Hi!

I believe the ban was lifted 3-4 months ago.

Does anybody have conclusive proof one way or the other on this issue? (no offense Cliff but I saw how your thread on airlines hiring was sliced and diced :)

Thanks! My apologies ATPCliff :)

BTW did the 49ers get their jobs back? The press release wasn't clear.

Out of 53 pilots that were "let go", 1 was in fact reinstated, but was demoted.

They are refered to as the "49ers", but it was acutually 53 total that were affected.

Website ...

On the "Job Search" section of their website, they still have the popup saying there's a hiring freeze. Anybody know how fast they'll update that when they decide to start hiring?

Nobody seems to have touched on the fact the SARS really hurt Cathay. At one point they had reduced the flight schedule by close to 45%. Their daily passenger numbers went from 30,000 to 6000. They are still in a recovery phase from that and not up to 100% of pre-SARS service. I wouldn't think any interviewing or hiring will take place until management has a clear picture of a full recovery. That should happen and the peak summer period is certainly helping but I would still give it a couple of months.

If we are talking about the freighter side then disregard all of the above. The freight traffic barely had a blip during SARS and really helped mitigate the damage. So they may be the ones doing the hiring.

Interviews in August are for people that already had interviews slated for pre-SARS. There are interviews for Second Officers, but new hire coarse dates have not yet been set. As of today, they are still not operationg a full schedule. But hope to be by the end of September, beginnng of October.

I was suppose to have an interview back in May but then got cancelled due to SARS. Got a call a couple of weeks ago for an interview in LAX for September. This is for direct entry FO based in the U.S for freight division.
Anybody else out there got an interview?

Plonker,
I have an interview scheduled for 5 Sept in LAX as well. E-mail me when you get an opportunity.
