I know there is going to be that guy out there who will probably give me crap for asking (because there always is), but I was wondering if I could get someone to share a letter of recommendation with me that I could use. I want to send a friend to his SWA interview with a great letter of recommendation. He is a guy that I have personally flown with and checked during recurrent over a four year period. I’m on the road without my computer for the next four days and could use a little help as I don't have much time. I did a few searches around the net and this forum, but didn’t really find one. Thanks!

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to recommend Mr. John Doe for a pilot position with Southwest Airlines. As a fellow classmate and friend of John during College at Alaska State University, I feel I can speak of his character, leadership, and professionalism in the aviation environment.

I have known John for about ten years and have flown with him many times. I gave him flight instruction for his Instrument, Commercial, and CFI ratings. He was an excellent student whom I enjoyed working with. He was always prepared and ready to accept new challenges.

John is a person who has the qualities that Southwest is looking for. He is a very hard worker who is determined to get any job done. He has been very dedicated to his aviation career. He has worked his way up from a flight instructor, to flying a King Air, to a Captain at Independence. His personality will enable him to get along well with fellow employees, as well as passengers. Mr. Doe would make an excellent addition to the Southwest family.

John Doe is an outgoing young man who would be a great asset to the airline. I hope you agree and offer him an opportunity to work for Southwest. Thank you for your time.

You may contact me with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,

How come they never include an oath on these things?

For example, "I solemly swear, that if this applicant isn't up to par, doesn't works good and last a long time, I will tender my resignation immediately upon applicant so and so's termination.

How come you never see that?

Why don't you ever see the headline "phsycic wins lottery" how come huh?

If the recommendation writer was the "psi-chick" and the person who is applying for the job is the winner of the lottery prize, how does your analogy work?

What if the airline was the lottery winner, because the applicant turned out to be a good employee, does that make them clairvoyant because they read your recommendation? Is the recommendation writer a lottery winner, if the person he/she recommends turns out to be good co-worker? I don't think that works, because that would fall under self-fulfilling prophecy.

Maybe the recommendation writer is the Sheppard and the recommendation represents the tyranny of evil men, or...
