Just a general inquiry, try not to jump my aZZ too hard, BUT--->

Anyone (esp who has been in this 10+ years) get kinda bored with flying? Don't get me wrong, we all have the best office and the best view in the world, and travel around the country/world. Not many people get to do that. However sometimes up at the FL's on autopilot for 4 hours, I am like "hmmmmmm......YYAAAAWWNNNN" until my destination, where of course in the landing phase the boredom goes away.

More than once I have said to myself "until 60? Better get a hobby"

see ya

Shoot, we never have time to get bored. When things are all finished up on the flight deck we have 800 questions given to us by our checkairmen. We have flash cards and quiz each other as we fly along. The whole objective is to be totally spooled up for that next PC, or if a checkairman decides to give you that no notice line check. Who has time to be bored.,,,

just read a book. also, i've got an adapter to hook my cd player in. it doesn't work that great, but at least i've got tunes. helps pass the time a little quicker.

i get so bored.

Bored after 4 hrs??

4 hrs is a chipshot!!

:D ;)

Yep, I sure did. I always felt guilty about reading or watching movies, so I'd just sit there. Now I have a job where cruise doesn't exist, so I don't get bored anymore.

The climb and descents, though....hey, pass the paper!

You young'ins dont know what a Etch-A-Sketch is? On the empty legs to Narita we play Twister with the F/A.

Please tell me you know what Twister is....

Rumor has it that you guys play neckid twister with the F/A on layovers, at least that's what HE said.

I love the 4 hour stuff, it's the 9+ hours that makes me want to gouge my eyes out with my pen.:D DVDs ease the pain though.

dont u get interrupted by ATC while watching a DVD?
Its like....."shhhh....this is a good part......":D

How'bout sleep! You do take a nap dont you? Then when you land you are ready to party?

We have some long 7 hr legs over the pond, at night, that half the time we spend trying to get a hold of someone on HF for position report. Specially towards Ascension, between Brazil and Africa. The fact we have some of the best "state of the art" HF's doesn't help either.

10 hour flights being the standard length, I always have a stack of mags to read and when those are done, I practice balancing my head on my neck (eyes closed of course):o
