Anybody know a of a good place for cheap Jepp approach plates online? I know Jeppesen.com is that the only place that sells them?

Thanks

Jepp Plates

Not sure where you live, but if you are in the Los Angeles area, channel islands aviation in Camarillo has them. I finally broke down and just paid Jepp for the subscription.

We sell them out of our place but they are getting harder and harder to get in with every revision. It took us 2 weeks to get the August 5th editions. We are now suggesting the best way to get them in a timely manner is to order straight from Jep.

A cheaper way is to go with the NACO plates but you don't get the maps like Jepp has.

Yea I've used NACA/NOAA since I started flying. However I got some interviews coming up and we all know airlines use Jepps. So time to learn Jepps. I just ordered them from jeppesen.com. So...My girlfriend wanted me to explain to her why airlines use Jepps vs NACA? I did'nt have a real answer, I told her that the layout was better. Anybody?

Most airlines get custom Jepps tailored specifically for their operation; as well as charts for special approach procedures that the company is authorized to do.

This type of customization is not avialable (to my knowledge) by using NACO plates.

To expand on flx757's awnser, Jepp makes maps for other countries too. The NACA/NOAA only makes charts for the US. A corp/airline guy can fly to Canada and not have to learn a new approach plate.

If you want to learn the ins-and-outs of Jepps there is no better way then with their "Chart Clinic" series which is offered for free at: https://www.jeppesen.com/wlcs/index.jsp?section=resources&content=publications_aopa.jsp
