Frank, m'man! Why didn't you get involved with VA? Tell ya what, I've got a platinum parachute that makes those old-fashioned gold ones look like a single month of unemployment pay for a furloughed AA pilot.

There are THOUSANDS of pilots out there that will work for chicken scratch... in fact, they will PAY US to fly!!!! The apps are pouring in. Come on board, we'll rock this industry like the old days.

Can you not see that VA is a very relevant topic for the majors forum. Companies like VA have a huge impact on the majors. Besides the term major is becoming far more of a gray area with each year.

No kidding, I think you missed my point. It is quite obvious that VA is relevant, but the only way it should be discussed in this forum is urging people to write their representatives to tell them to OPPOSE foreign control in the U.S. That, however was not the topic of this thread, it was more to the tone of "ooh, ooh, I'm whoring myself out to the lowest bidder (foreign at that), anybody else with me?" No gray area here, this has no place on the Majors forum when VA isn't a major, or for that matter even an airline. I hope it remains that way.

Isn't this frequently the case in corporate aviation, if not in the corporate world in general? In the best cases the interview works as a two way street where employers and potential employees get to know each other and the details of the job (including compensation), and then decide if the job is right for each of them.

Frequently salary is negotiated in the interview process and is a product of a person's experience, education and the need of the employer. Your statement labels "whores" nearly all workers in white-collar America.

Now if you're talking about people accepting a job offer without knowing their pay, that's another matter, although I can't imagine anyone at the new VA is doing that...

There are way to many people who will do anything to fly a 'big' jet. I bet I could start an all 747 airline where I didn't pay anyone but offered them free travel. That would give me plenty of FA travel whores for the cabin service and the 747 would have plenty of pilot whores who would fly for free.

I'm smart enough to connect the dots. Why would I be ashamed? It wasn't Bush who said "no thanks" when Bin Laden was offered up on a silver platter (3 times).
