Any Citation Mustangs been delivered beyond the initial copy which became a Cessna demonstrator? Pretty cool aircraft - nice G1000 flight deck. Looks like a fun aircraft to fly. Love to hear some impressions from people who have evaluated it or who will actually get to fly one going forward (already ordered a copy).

Which aircraft will the Mustangs likely replace - PC12s, King Airs or Citation 1s? Anyone know how many copies have already been delivered?

Saw the airplane sitting on the ramp yesterday in colorado springs, looked kinda cool.

I believe only #1 has been "delivered." I think FSI just had the first type class.

If an owner-pilot fills a PC-12 or B200, forget the Mustang. Maybe a C90, or anyting else. Two Eclipse owners could go halvzies and actually get a plane. :pimp: I could see somebody parking an old 500 at White Industries and picking up a 510. Cessna is saying the DOC is $2/nm in warranty. Not too bad with the Citation support network standing behind it. The C90B is over $2.50/nm and the B200 is just under $2.50.

They have been writing the eulogy of the Kingair for what, 30 years now? It never seems to quite work out and Beech keeps right on building and selling 90s, 200s and 350s.

I hear that all the generals who like to jet around with the staff in the UC-35 also need a C-12 chase plane for the bags. Like I said, you can't match the load on those bigger planes, but the C90 market could take a hit. Then there is the "over the wx" option, too.

For the bigger turbo props, check out Mac's editorial in Flying. The ATR's are making a comeback?

Only if the airlines were smart and could operate with common sense, which most of them can't.

I wouldn't be surprised to see domestic orders in the next 12-18 months for larger turboprops at the regional level (Q300/400 & ATR 72) to replace 50 seat regional jets.

You just ain't gonna make any money flying a 50 seat jet, even if its full, from PHL to AVP or CVG to DAY.

How is this even remotely related to the questions about the Citation Mustang?

It’s another chapter in the turbo prop vs jet debate. The Mustang seems like a great machine, but the ultimate question is mission. The original poster asked about PC-12 and B200 folks moving over to a 510 or other VLJ’s.

If you fill-up a PC12, you will make 2 trips in the Mustang. If you are making 2-300 nm trips, you won’t get the full speed and altitude advantage of the jets, either. This has been the big question when you look at the price of the new Socata 850 costing more than a Mustang.

Now take this discussion one step laterally from biz to commercial aviation – it’s one of those professional discussion things. Continental is buying Q400’s for their NE corridor express operations. With fuel prices in flux and everybody trying to save a penny on expenses, fuel efficiency is a hot topic. You can’t get that in an RJ flying low on short hops.

It’s all a question of mission profile. Jets are cool, but…
