A quick question for those that have interviewed recently or are planning to soon.

Were you sent an application prior to going to MSP?

I've got one scheduled soon, but haven't heard back yet regarding application materials and travel info.

Thanks.

NL,

I'm not a recent hire but they used to send the package including your app and travel pass through FedEx and it comes less than a week prior to the interview. Not to worry, if you're invited to MSP you'll get the info.

Good Luck!

just interviewed with Mesaba on the 12th of January...they send you the materials like 4 days prior to the interview FEDEX

What all do they send you? Do you need anything like transcripts thattake time to get, or is it just forms and copies of stuff? I've got aninterview with them next week, but I'm going to be out of town thisweekend, so I won't get the FedEx thing until probably Sunday when Iget back. Thanks...

Passport if you have one
DL
FCC License if you have one
Logbooks of course
That was all they wanted along with app completely filled out.
Good Luck!!

FYI

Next new hire class starts on February 28

10 new hires

latest vacancy showing the new hires going to:

2 CVG Avro FOs
8 DTW Saab FOs
1 DTW Avro FO
3 MEM Saab FOs

Add that up and it's 14.... this is how our crew planning dept. operates- you can never get a straight answer. so lets just say the next class (2/28/05) is 10-14 new hires. :D good luck all!

Eatsleepfly,
When are you interviewing next week? I am scheduled for Friday the 4th, and they haven't called me back or sent me anything either.

How fast did you hear from mesaba? I sent in my résumé however, I think I sent it in to late and did not arrive by the 01.20.05 deadline.
I am hopping they will post again they are accepting résumés and I will get it in on time.

I sent mine in last Oct. or so but wasn't able to get time off to interview. They called on a Tuesday for a Thursday interview. This time, they called last Friday and gave me a choice of Tuesday through Friday. I chose Friday for the lead time.
They had asked last Nov if I still wanted to be in the interview pool. I obvisouly said yes, and had almost forgotten about it until they called.
Cant wait to get there!

Attention all soon-to-be-Mesaba-interviewees:

I have a friend in the XJ training department who told me that due to increased usage of the simulators for training, the interview sim ride will no longer be in the saab or avro simulators. Starting next week they will be using an ATC 610 desktop simulator. I don't think that means it will be harder. In fact, if you aren't used to glass cockpits it will probably be easier. Just don't plan to fly the level D sim because it won't happen.

Good luck to all! Just be pleasant, be honest, and be yourself!

.

That is kind of good news. I was looking forward to flying one of the other sims, but I actually have 15 hours or so on an ATC 610, so that could be better. I do remember it being very sensitive though.

Good luck to all interviewing... you'll get plenty of time in the avro or saab sims! It's daunting enough at training, let alone in an interview.

Mine is Wednesday. Same here, no new info. I guess I'll call on Monday afternoon if I don't hear from them before then, so I can arrange travel. Good luck all, hopefully I'll see you in class.

Question for you guys getting the interviews, did you have an internal recommendation or just get the interview by sending in a resume. I turned down an interview with Mesaba last Spring, but the only way you were getting them at that time was from an internal rec. I still wouldn't mind working for them, things just didn't work out last year timing wise.

tk

I didn't have one. I just faxed my resume in one night for the heck of it. Figured they'd never call, because I heard the same thing about needing to have an internal rec. To my surprise, they called.

To all that are applying to Mesaba. Mesaba has a great bunch of pilots and for the most part a pretty good place to work but. The movement is slow I wouldn't even want to guess how long an upgrade would be. Right now the min is 4-5 years maybe longer. If you are looking for some fast PIC time this in not the place to go.

T-handle,
You gave the following:
latest vacancy showing the new hires going to:

2 CVG Avro FOs
8 DTW Saab FOs
1 DTW Avro FO
3 MEM Saab FOs

The web site doesn't list CVG as a base. What are the domiciles for Mesaba? I know DTW, MEM and MSP.

I believe CVG is a pilot base, that doesn't mean its a hub. It works because they have an Avro maintainence base and hanger there. I don't work for Mesaba, but just trying to help. If I'm wrong guys just let me know. Good luck on your interview, sounds like a good place to work.

CVG used to be the heavy mx base for the avro. Since the company brilliantly has outsourced that work, the CVG mx base is strictly a night line mx facility, like DSM. XJ still maintains a hanger there and the trips start with flights to the MSP and DTW hubs (MEM was axed with the move to terminal 3). It's the smallest base and falls into the "ba$tard child" category.

My friend who interviewed on 1-14 just got the call for Mesaba. Starts class on 2-28. Good luck to everyone else!

So how'd all your interviews go?

I forgot to ask them...do they call and let you know even if you don't get it? They told me that if I were to get an offer, to expect a call either Friday (didn't get one) or Monday at the earliest. Did anyone who interviewed last week hear anything yet?

I don't think they call the ones they don't want. You'll proably get a letter saying thanks but no thanks reapply in 6 months. But, just because they didn't call when they said they wouldn't doesn't necesarily mean you didn't get the job. When I interviewed they said they'd get back to us in 2 weeks by mail. I got a call the following morning offering me the job. THe phone call actually woke me up because it was about 8am my time and I got home from the interview at 11pm the night before. Talk about turn around time! Stay positive and good luck.

I just interviewed and would imagine if it happend I would hear next week. I know they were interviewing the 31-4 so I would assume their calls would be after all interviewing took place. Was a good experience and I loved the people. I will post a gouge when I hear yea or nayy.

Don't give up hope!

When I interviewed almost a year ago, it took them 3 1/2 weeks to call me and I got hired. I thought for sure I would get a PFO letter but alas, they called. Jodi in HR said that I was the first one they decided to hire in that particular group, but they were short staffed and it just took them that long to call everybody. Well, whatever... Nothing happens too fast here at Mesaba, but it is a good company to work for. We've got some great people here.

Good luck!
