hey all,

since the market has slowed to a veritable crawl, id like to know if y'all have seen/experienced any movement on the lower end to indicate any hiring news on the higher end.

as for us (single/light twin 135 ops) out of less than 20 pilots, weve had one just recently move to a jet operator...and two go to private jobs, one in a jet, one in a turbo-prop. all three of these had about 2000 hours and around 800 multi PIC. as a comparison, last summer (pre 9-11) people were blasting outa here with just shy of 1500TT and 2-300 multi PIC.

i also keep in touch with the school i went to, and theyve not had but one or two guys get hired in the last few months.

it also sounds like Airnet is beginning to interview on a limited basis again. from what i hear, their pool has slimmed down some from the guys tired of waiting and jumping ship.

so, as near as i can tell, there IS some movement...albeit, nothing along the likes of what weve seen in the past, anyone else???

I was furloughed in Jan and waited about six months to get an opening at my old gig flying an MU-2. Know body had left from Aug 01 until Jul 02 when they called me back. But since then, there have been 4 pilots that have left to take other jobs. I dont know were they are going, I didnt think that there was any movement at all let alone having 5 pilots out of 12 leave in a matter of 6 weeks. I can tell you it has nothing to do with the company as the pay and working conditions here are pretty good as long as you dont mind the night-frieght gig. It might be a fluke, as I have talked to the other remaining pilots and nobody has anything else that they would even consider a good posibility. I do know the boss has more resumes than he has ever seen. For the few years before 9/11, they were hiring folks with fairly low time for a single pilot MU-2 job. Now, Im told, he has his pick of just about any qualifications that he wants; Like the early 90's. In this kind of job market I feel pretty content just having a descent paycheck, even if im doing the same job I was 5 years ago. Good Luck!!!
