Any Lear jobs in Southeast?

Anyboby heard of openings for Lear types in the south/southeast? I'm about to retire from the USAF with 3000 hours in Lear 35 and 6000 total. It tough out here without Uncle Sam's protection blanket. I have a whole new respect for you guys who had to work your way up to jets and build time. Thanks

I was fortunate enough to interview with Wal Mart last July. Though I didnt get hired (they picked 4 out of 28) I was very impressed with how they do things. They are in Bentonville, AR, so you're in the south and they operate about 20 Lear 31s and 35s.
I dont know if they plan any more hiring in the near future, but if you go back on this (corporate) board and search for Wal Mart in the last year you will get bunches of good info, including contacts. Several of their pilots are on this board from time to time and are very helpful.
Like I said, I have no idea what their hiring plans look like, but it seemed like a GREAT long term job with decent money, great bennies, and an outstanding schedule.

FS Air

I think the SE Alaska operator mentioned in the other post is FS Air out of PANC (Anchorage). While I don't have specific info on the company, I've had the good fortune to talk with their pilot's on several occassions. They all seem like a great, close knit group, plus they fly to some incredible destinations throughout AK (when you see a jet with the gravel kit installed, you know you're in for some interesting flying!) and seem to keep pretty busy. I believe they're operating a LR25, LR35 and BE200. .

While living in AK isn't for everyone, Anchorage is a great town. Also, if you have half an outdoor spirit, you'll be in heaven. Plenty of hunting, fishing, etc., to take care of your down time.

Wal-Mart info

I have to agree with the comment flywrite made about Wal-Mart. I was one of the four hired last July, and I have to say that this is the very best flying job I have ever had. We still havent heard any solid info. from our leadership as to hiring any new pilots. I do know that we could possibly hire from the remainder of the twenty five who have already interviewed. The only changes we have had here at Wal-Mart is our Chief Pilot resigned late last year and there are talks of a new Lear Jet. Our director has indicated that our growth will be tremendous over the next five years, so who knows. If you are intersted in Wal-Mart send a resume to:

Not to be discouraged, but competitve hiring mins were around 3500 to 4000 hours all had jet time.....

FS Air

I would be careful about FS Air. First even Anchorage is expensive to live. Second, I had heard that all their current pilots had quit. When that happens, it means something is going on. I would look at it very carefully

This is what my friend who I work with now has to say about FS Air:

FS has lost 6 captains in the last year. Maintenance sucks, you work your ass off at 0330 picking up drunk natives that spit on you.

They just ran the LR 25 off the runway in Bethel. I think it is totaled. They ran the Merlin off the runway last month, that was totalled too. They still have the LR 35 left but it has 17,000 hours on it and the copilots gyro hasn't worked in months.

It goes without saying that the contract is under review right now. I don't think they are going to keep it. Call Aeromed, Inc in Anchorage to talk to the medics and get another opinion.

P.S. I was one of those 6 captains.

I'd avoid FS. Floyd Saltz, the owner, died in a Lear accident a few yrs back. The company continues to have incidents/accidents.

Try US Jets. They are based in Athens, GA (AHN). They are a 135 operator (6 or 7 Lears I believe).

You're going to have even more respect for your civvy counterparts when you find out what conditions ome of them had to deal with, especially flying 20's series Learjets.

If it were me, I would look for ALL coporate jobs, not just LR-JET operators. Frequently, those are some of the lowest jobs- on demand charter and air ambulance. . . . . not to slight any of the hard working pilots flying the night skies, but it is tough racket.

Here is a directory of many cargo operators . . . some will be LR-JET operators. Also, see if you can get a copy of the NBAA directory from someone, or enroll as a memeber and get your own copy, it will list all operators by equipment type, home base, etc.
